Banff National Park is a must!
There are thousands of reviews of Banff National Park. I can't say anything more than all the others who've praised this place. So I will simply say this. I've been very fortunate to have traveled a great deal of the world and I don't say this lightly; don't miss any opportunity to see Banff. It is truly the most naturally beautiful place I may have ever seen. No pictures can do it justice. You have to see it for yourself. It's literally emotionally moving. Almost like being in a Holy place. Moraine Lake and Lake Louise are spectacular. When you see the sunrise and watch the water change colors before your eyes you'll get it. Remember to close your mouth because you will gasp at the sight. Go before it's overrun and they simply have to restrict the amount of people allowed to visit. Oh, and bring binoculars id you have room in your suitcase! One last thing, eat at "Banff Poutine." You can thank me later.

    Beautiful park expensive admit
I think there is a reason Banff NP is expensive to visit, because simply it is— considering park admission fee (ouch), prices of gas, food, and lodging. But the peaks and conifer covered jagged slopes are breathtaking to take in, you could be distracted enough to lose control of your car while driving in. Places that are more common to visit include the bowman parkway, lake Louise , the gondola, lake moraine. But honestly in Mid May it was still too cold and trails often snow packed to really make visiting a bit uncomfortable. Plus the crowds in areas like lake Louise, selfie taking crowds were ridiculous. I mean even with the expensive admission the crowds were surging and parking at lake Louise expensive and packed. This is in May, imagine summer. We saw a few animals mostly elk though, but not at levels of diversity like Yellowstone. Without the majestic scenery of the Canadian Rockies I would skip this Park, not even consider in summer unless doing some backcountry excursion.

    Banff is a great time!
We did all the touristy things and had a really good time doing that! The gondola was fun and the view from the observatory and gondola was amazing. The town is beautiful and free parking abounds (get there early just in case). The shuttle to Lake Louise and Moraine were smooth and worth the few dollars. Hiking around the lakes was much better than I imagined. All around great time! Banff is different from Jasper because it has more infrastructure and lots of tourists. However, proper planning prevents poor performance here. Buy bus and park passes before you leave for Canada. Bring food and drink with you to the park or buy some at the IGA in town for when you need it. Be patient. Take lots of pictures. Observe your surroundings and you might notice the big horn sheep and elk and ground squirrels all around you.

Nice National Park but a bit overdeveloped for my taste. The place is indeed nice, but expect to pay for it. The lakes are a must. Expect late check ins at hotels around 4pm or even later. Food choices are great, but not for the average tourist prices. Let’s say that sustainability is not their priority. Recommended if you have the budget and are willing to have Aspen-style conform inside a National Park (a bit ridiculous is you ask me) Not recommended for those looking for a true nature experience as the massive development in Banff is not for everyone

Caution! All visitors to Banff National Park in Alberta Canada are required to have a park pass to enter. One per person, or one per family. (Couples will need one each.) If you plan on visiting the park for more than a few days, I recommend purchasing a Parks Canada Discovery pass instead of multiple day passes. (Good for one year for all national parks, anywhere in Canada.) Canada has permanent & mobile checkpoints & will verify if you have a pass. With the pass on our dashboard, we went thru the checkpoints without a hitch, all the way up the Icefields Parkway to Jasper.

The scenery is spectacular. When we visited, the Canadian Rocky Mountains still had a generous snow cover. There are so many activities to choose from. In Banff, we took the gondola up Sulphur Mountain. Great views, and good restaurants on top.

As some of the first visitors from the U.S. to be granted entry again on 8/13, Banff NP was awesome even though crowded. I was particularly impressed with the visitor information centers at the park. The Canadian government spends a fair amount of money on maps and personnel to guide tourists. Especially helpful was Maxine at the Lake Louise campground, great talk on geocaching and many other informative topics.

We feel very fortunate to have taken a visit to Banff National Park and to take in this majestic and glorious place. We drove in from Coeur D'Alene ID and, once into the park stopped at Two Jack Lake and then Lake Minnewanka. We then drove to Canmore where we stayed for 3 nights. The second day we took the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake tours. This is a must do in Banff. And I would highly recommend making a reservation with the park site to do this tour. We did not have one and were able to make one with a local group but it was much more expensive. You get on a bus and they take you to Lake Louise which is unbelievable. My wife and I did the Fairview Lookout Hike and the Lakeshore Hike. These give you great views of one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen. Then we caught a shuttle to Moraine Lake. The shuttles run every 30 minutes. At Moraine Lake we again hiked the Lakeshore Trail of this beautiful lake. It is hard to describe how beautiful the scenery is. From here a shuttle bus back to the parking area. On our 3rd day we visited Bow River Falls in Banff and Johnston Canyon. Both were amazing sights to see. Banff National Park is one of our highlights in our travels.

Banff has become a money pit, with the park taking advantage of guests. Half empty lots are “full” or “closed” this past year to maximize the profits from guests having to pay for the over crowded shuttles that need to be booked in advance.

Paying for the park pass, $10 one way shuttle rides, plus paid parking within the town. Nature should be free. Banff is starting to resemble Disney without the “magic”. They know they have tourists from across the globe, make it accessible.

Any young family planning a trip, either plan a year in advance or don’t plan on seeing anything while you’re there without paying big bucks.

Sadly with the amount of forest fires happening lately, feels like Mother Nature might visit banff with some karma.

The park is stunning and well worth the visit. The mountains are spectacular, the lakes are beautiful and the flowers are colorful. It is just amazing. Be sure to check online for every place you want to visit and purchase shuttle or tour tickets in advance, especially for places like Lake Louise, Lake Moraine and even the Gondola. The downside is that the hotels are rather expensive during the high season. The main town of Banff has a variety of very good restaurants. We will definitely return!

After visiting and the recent treatment of certain survivalist experts, I’d never recommend going here.
Instead, see the Rockies free of parks Canada influence, and go to places like Woodland Caribou, or Wabakimi if you’re looking for a true wilderness adventure.

Banff is looking to charge men for teaching people how to survive if they’re ever stuck in their rough area, and the rangers I have dealt with were pretentious Jerks who were too full of themselves,

We visited the Banff National Park this week, while we were in the Alberta Canada area. This is very popular tourist attraction year round, so keep this in mind when booking hotel reservations. You will need a park pass during your stay, and you can purchase them online, upon entering the park, or at the Banff visitor center. We had beautiful weather during our visit, and we were able to see plenty of wildlife during our visit. We would highly recommend this National Park to people who enjoy the outdoors and the wonders of the wilderness. Please keep in mind that many of the hiking trails are not handicap accessible.
