The Minnewanka loop is easily found on the first exit ramp to Banff off the transcanada from Canmore and Calgary. Take the right hand turn for the loop drive. About 4 km you will see a sign for Johnson lake. Take this road and you...More

Nice for a little stroll. Make sure you have a parks pass as we didn't get told about it from our hotel when we checked in late at night and ended up getting a warning violation from the parks people.

This drive was crowded- but we saw so much wildlife on this loop! Lots of cars stopped and lots of people taking photos but everyone was pretty respectful- not getting too close and keeping quiet.

This is a fantastic short trip with plenty of places to walk and admire the views. Our trip almost did not happen due to the attitude of a "summer" ranger who was very unfriendly, insolent and as the title states an..........! Tanking th latter up...More

I am looking at camping somewhere (perhaps two nights here & there) in September in a small tent, would prefer bear safe fencing, but hoping to avoid the train line sites, any recommendations would be MUCH APPRECIATED! Thank you
