There were 16 of us in our family who enjoyed hours on Sulphur Mountain. Two hiked the mountain (up and down), and 14 others took the Gondola up to the top. 14 of us ate at the Sky Bistro after walking around the top of...More

A trip up the gondola isn't inexpensive but the view is worth the price. Many people choose to hike up the trail, which is also a nice option. The ticket line may seem daunting but it moves quickly and you can explore the area afterwards...More

We went to see the hot springs at Sulphur mountain. We thought it would be a natural environment and get to experience the hot springs. It turns out they redirect the water to a pool and people sit in the hot pool. There was a...More

Hiked the Sulphur Mountain recently after planning of more than 1 year. No, it's not tough and need more planning, just somehow it didn't happen. The hike is pretty easy but the view from the top is really beautiful. Some places it is bit steep...More

We took the gondola up and then took the boardwalk trail yo the peak of Sulphur Mountain. The views were obscured due to the BC wildfires, but nonetheless it was still magical to visit. We headed up around 5pm, so it wasn't too crazy busy....More

As a solo traveller I was worried about hiking alone but this is one very well trodden and rewarding hike, easily accessible from Banff town. To get there you take the Banff Gondola shuttle, which is free and leaves from the centre of the city...More

My husband, 9-year-old daughter, and I hiked up Sulphur Mountain after others described it as an easy or beginner hike. I disagree. It's a switch back but at steep elevations and it took more than 2 hours one-way, which in the heat of August was...More

To get to the top of Sulphur Mountain, you can hike up (5.5km one way) or you can take the gondola up. Years ago when I was last here, the place was rather run down but this time, I see that they have done a...More

It was our kids first time to Banff (ages 11 & 8) as we had only a few days to see and do as much as possible. Our first item was the Sulphur Mt. just 3km outside the town of Banff. First recommendation... stop in...More

Whether you hike up the mountain, or take the gondola ride, this is a must see when you come to Banff. 360 views, history, and some exercise. Food is a bit pricey on the peak.

Absolutely, you can buy one way down no problem. Can't remember the cost and take about 9 minutes with an option of a picture purchase, or essential and no hassle. Enjoy

Sure, but this is a high altitude site, and you had better be vigorously fit to do so!
