The gondola takes you approximately 7300' above Banff townsite and provides 360 degree views over the mountains once you reach the top. The newly renovated interpretive center provides information and hands-on exhibits for all age groups and the three levels include spectacular viewing areas and a cafeteria and restaurant. Be prepared for changing weather conditions as the elevation alone can... More

Banff was our final stop on our coach tour of the Canadian Rockies. We rode the Banff Gondola in the afternoon to the top of Sulphur Mountain and took in the horizon to horizon panoramic views over six Rocky Mountain ranges. Just spectacular! The weather when we reached the top was fine however it changed suddenly and within minutes we... More

Gondola is great, but hiking is incredible. It's a strenuous hike up the mountain, but it can easily be done in a day. The observation deck at the top offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the city below. You can watch the weather approach and the sun set.

We took the gondola to the visitors centre and hadn't really planned to walk to the top of Sulphur Mountain. We procrastinated a bit, but fortunately decided that we would take the walk from the visitor centre up to the top of Sulphur Mountain. It is all boarded, with handrails, steps and rest areas. Those in the know took a... More

The walk started out pretty easy despite a fair incline. Due to the snow, the top half of the mountain was covered in snow and ice with some pretty dangerous patches of ice making it difficult to get up. The views from the top were amazing and there was the opportunity to take the boardwalk to the weather tower.

Went with our children. Had an amazing time. We took the gondola up and loved the entire trip/walk. It was just a winter wonderland

You can pre purchase your tickets online for the gondola, which saves time when its busy or if you're energetic enough hike to get up there. The views are spectacular either way despite the crowds. Arriving early is the key. The day we were there it was cloudy for a while up top but it was still amazing. A definite... More

It snowed a lot last Friday, Oct. 7th so the view got even more beautiful with snow. Regular admission to the gondola was a bit pricey but I think that it was worth it. You can see the town of Banff from Sulphur Mountain. I would definitely go back!

We chose this gondola and were glad we did. Once we got to the top of gondola ride, we had a really nice lunch and craft beer. Then you can walk the 368 stairs up to the top of the mountain with incredible views. The historic weather station at the top was neat. We liked short activities like this that... More
