A marvellous well engineered road from Banff to Jasper, with so much scenery to enjoy. .We did it both ways.

We drove this on a Monday starting at 10:30am to about 5:30pm in August. The weather was rainy, snow at times and cloudy. We saw no animals. We went from Banff to Athabasca Falls and down through Maligne Canyon and back to Banff. We stopped at Bow Lake, Peyto Lake/Bow Summit, the Glacier, Athabasca Falls and Maligne Canyon. There were... This was a gorgeous drive between Jasper and Banff with plenty of places to stop along the way. We broke it up into a three day trip spending a couple of nights at the icefield centre. Would recommend getting a driving tour app too if you don't know which attractions to stop at.

We have been up on the glacier a few times in past years, so now consign ourselves to a stop at the discovery center. Good parking and washrooms, as well as food and gifts are available. Couple that with a commanding panoramic view of the glaciers and it is a good stop

This drive has it all. Amazing mountains and valleys, wildlife , and glaciers. Plan ahead as there are very few services on the parkway. The drive wasn't bad and there was less traffic the closer you got to Jasper. There were lots of sight seeing stops clearly marked along the way. Make sure you get a map of the parkway... More

We were driving through Icefield Park this is one of the first big stops along the way. It was a cloudy day, however the scenery was stunning. The Highway is an easy drive. Well worth a day trip or more. There is a place to stay along the shores of the lake. With Glaciers in the background, Bow Lake is... More

Since so many reviews, let me spell out some specific pointers in the Jasper Banff Lake Louise Area, which could be useful Parkway Pass : We got lucky to enter the Park area in evening on way to Jasper, so had zero line and got the pass on the car in 2 minutes. In a day trip across the park,... More

Whilst the drive itself will take only 3.5 hours or so to complete (Jasper to Lake Louise), this drive deserves, nay demands more time. You should not only dedicate a full day to this drive, you should also plan every stop on the way prior to setting off (some stops are easy to miss). Let me put it this way.... More
