This handsome church which is massive tower and slender spire is well well wroth a visit. Very spacious inside and with windows of a variety of styles over the past so many hundred years. An interesting medieval knight scratched with 17th and 18th century graffiti....More

There is access to the original Saxon crypt where the bones of St. Wystan once were & it is said the reason the steps are so worn is because of the tread of so many pilgrims. Today it looks to be still a church with...More

Saint Wystan's Church in Repton has a complete Anglo-Saxon crypt whilst the main fabric of the church is a mixture of Saxon, medieval and more modern additions (up to the nineteenth century). When we visited, the church was open to the public. The crypt is...More

Walked around the church looking at the grave stones, including that of CB Fry. Inside it is a very pleasant church. The unique selling point is the crypt where the bones of royalty is thought to have been laid many many years ago!

Interesting crypt with a fascinating history. Be sure to take a torch, and read the blurb by the crypt entrance before you descend.

The Crypt in St Wystan's Church is a real gem and worth a visit - set in a beautiful village with shops and plenty of eating establishments. The Church is impressive and has plenty to keep a visitor occupied and enthralled.

We went here as part of a tour concerning the Staffordshire Hoard. Unfortunately, our guide was fixated on giving us his standard talk about the church which was a little tedious. He didn't really know that much about the Anglo-Saxons or general history. The crypt...More
