Nicely stone surfaced route to New Mills from Hayfield. New Mills has lots of old arches and railway architecture. Fairly litter free and good for walkers and runners too. As it was a railway it is fairly flat

As an old railway track it's a nice gentle way of warming up (starting at New Mills in our case) before the rigours of the ascent of Kinder.

Stayed in Hayfield and walked to New Mills using the Sett Valley Trail. It's 2.5 miles each way. Not too muddy but boots would be recommended. There's a cafe half way in Birch Vale however, it's only open Wed - Sun. Lovely walk, lovely views...More

This trail is great for those who want to have a reasonable walk without the hills. From Hayfield into New Mills it is somewhere between 3-3.5 miles long. Very pleasant walk and some lovely views.

Great place for a walk with the children and dogs. Just needed plenty of water to keep cool in the warm weather. Nice scenery to enjoy during a leisurely stroll.

Living local to this area it's a lovely place to walk, especially the little nature reserve The only thing that spoils it is the piles of plastic dog poop filled bags left behind by dog walkers!!! What's the point of picking up the dog mess...More
