Two of us took the 2 day 2 night express Ha Giang loop with YESD.

After lots of research, we decided we wanted to do the loop but with easy drivers, due to safety and enjoyment. We are traveling across south east Asia for 3 months, so doing this tour wasn’t really part of our budget... but I am SO glad we did!

I remember reading in the Lonely Planet guide for Vietnam ‘if you’re going to pay more and use private transport at one point in your trip, the Ha Giang loop is that place!’

Phuong was great with sending me across quotes, normally within a couple of minutes and we only booked the tour 24 hours in advance, when we realised how good the weather was supposed to be! So it was very efficient.

Once in Ha Giang, we were picked up by a driver and taken to Thon Tha village to stay with Mrs Dung at her Homestay. What a wonderful caring lady she is! Amazing food and a homely atmosphere, we loved it there.

The next morning Son and Tung picked us up. They had proper motorbikes and we immediately felt safe when travelling on the back.

The views were ASTONISHING. They told us more about their country, took us to local places to eat (we ate our first hot pot and Banh Cuon, all delicious) and if at any point you were thinking ‘I want to take a picture here’ they would stop a few hundred metres later at an even more beautiful spot!

It was honestly worth paying the extra and enjoying the ride.

*Though I would suggest taking the 3 day tour, as ours was very fast passed, so took a toll on everyone’s muscles!

YESD Responsible Tourism was a pleasure to be in contact with. They were quick to help answer all our questions and even to reply our e-mail, when we realised very lateon our way to Ha Giang that we were delayed by more than an hour.
We had booked a 3D2N stay at a local family in Ha Giang with two days of trekking. YESD were very good to accommodate our requests and made sure everything from food preferences (a vegetarian diet) to shuttle from bus station to the family's home was handled with utmost care.
The family we stayed at were very nice and open, and although they hardly spoke English, we managed just fine with Google Translate and body language. Our tour guide was a little better at English, but was also hard to understand at all times. We did however enjoy our trip very much and had a lot of fun with our sweet guide Lim, who was very good to show us different flora and fauna as well as tell us a lot about the local culture. And he was easy to talk to and even with the language barrier, we mostly felt understood and informed.

We booked a tour with YesD that included 3 days of hiking in Ha Giang province based out of YesD local HQ in Thon Tha.
The first day was quite arduous. About 20k overall. A big climb. Lunch in the high village of Khuo Mai and then descent back to Thon Tha including swimming in a pool under a waterfall.
The next 2 days were a climb up to the village of Xa Phin. An overnight stay in the village with lots of laughs and rice wine with the host family. We were taught how to pick tea and dry it in a pan over the fire before returning on a different route down the hill towards Thon Tha. About 15k walking per day.
Our original guide was called away at the last minute due to a family bereavement and instead we were accompanied by Tiang, one of the YesD founders. Tiang was a delightful companion. Great English. Full of laughs and if we did get slightly lost on occasion it only added to the humour of the trip.
The trekking took us through beautiful landscapes and remote villages. Two of our group were in their late 60s and although the walks were quite long they were very manageable.
The one slight reservation I would have was that we spent a little bit too much time walking on small concrete roads and not quite enough on the beautiful off-road trails and footpaths.
We stayed 4 nights in Thon Tha split between two family homestays. The food and facilities were excellent in both places. Everyone we met who was associated with YesD was unfailingly helpful.
The booking process was easy. We wanted a slighty customised trip which Tuyet arranged, responding promptly to emails and setting out options and prices clearly.
There is a temptation to try and pack a lot in and keep moving. I would strongly recommend the benefits of staying in one place for a few days and letting the peace and tranquility of the rural way of life sink in.

Highly recommend trekking in this region and the YesD organisation

Best part of my 5 week trip! This team is phenomenal! I spoke to the team behind the scenes frequently before I left, while I was there, and even after. They were extremely responsive and helpful in answering any and every question. They went above and beyond to ensure I had a good experience, I truly appreciate the phenomenal customer service. I can not recommend this company enough. I was traveling as a solo black woman and a tad bit nervous about reception on my trip and hiking alone. I had nothing to fear. The host family, guide, everyone was very welcoming. The views are lovely. My tour guide spoke great English, he had no problem saying if he didn't understand something, and we only used Google translate once. I taught my host mom a few card games and she even beat me in one! We used Google translate and she practiced her English. what a lovely woman. I truly enjoyed the trek and felt like it was challenging but doable. Breath-taking views and met great families along the way when we stopped for lunch. I loved my sleeping arrangements and fell asleep to the sound of running water. Such a peaceful sound to sleep to. I ate good,, slept good, met wonderful people, and enjoyed my hike. My tour guide was knowledgeable about the community, the plants, and proactively shared history with me. I would absolutely do a tour again with this company.

We did the Ha Giang 3-Days tour and it was an awesome experience!
I highgly recommend to do this tour with YESD company beacuse they not only organise everything for you (pick ups/Drop off from the bus), they also give you a cultural and unique experience you will never get from other companies: the tour was only made for us, that means we didn't share it with a crowded group of people like other travelers told us. The guides were super friendly, telling us a lot of things about their culture, sharing all the meals with us... We were also inmerse in Vietnamise culture during these 3 days, sleeping in homestays, visiting small towns and even learning what do they do for a living. The price for the tour was similar to the others we could find online and knowing you're helping the community by doing this tour with YESD company, makes you feel great. For the record, if you're wondering if the Ha Giang loop tour is worth it, it is! We've never seen anything like that before and photographs cannot take a picture of all the nature and views you'll experience up there! We were doing a low-cost travel and doing this tour was the only thing we did not hesitate to do!
If we go back to Vietnam, I'm sure we'll choose this company again!

My friends and I (4 adults + 1 kid) had an amazing time with the Ha Giang tour on the 4 day comfort car ride. From the itinerary arrangements, answering our queries, pick-up at Hanoi airport, comfortable 11 seater minivan, sharing the stories of the history and culture of the places we visited across Ha Giang, easy hike through the village, mountains, and finally dropping us back in Hanoi at our hotel within the old quarters.

Both our guide and driver was good with my friend's kid even though the little one was complaining about the long journey, the "infinity stairs/mountain" walks we took to explore the country side. They brought him on his first motorcycle ride in Dong Van town, caught a fish with a rod at the Thon Tha homestay, and check out some other stuff at Nam Dam. While I don't usually recommend to bring along children for these trips, it turned out to be a great experience for him.

Only suggestion would be to have alternative payment options for international travellers. The USD (quote) > VND > home currency conversion is eroding value for both YESD and ourselves. Also the VTCpayment gateway fees... Please consider Paypal, Google, Apple, Grab, WISE, Credit Card or share your local business bank account.

We (myself and two friends) did 4 days and 3 nights combination tour- 1 day trekking followed by the 3 days motorbiking. All of the homestays/accommodations were great - we especially enjoyed getting to sharing home cooked meals with the families hosting us. The guides were kind, knowledgable, and spoke great English. In particular, our motorbiking guides were AMAZING - we felt very safe riding with them so we could thoroughly enjoy the jaw dropping vistas around us from the bike and also enjoyed grabbing lunch/dinner with them while on the road as well. All three of us were drawn to YESD as a tour company because of their commitment to sustainable tourism and we found that this mission shone through in creating a truly unforgettable experience. Ha Giang was a highlight of our trip thanks to YESD!

I took a 3D3N backseat motorbike tour n Hà Giang with YESD - it was an amazing experience and I highly recommend doing a similar tour with them if you want to have a socially conscious trip in a beautiful area with many challenges too. Tuyet at YESD was very helpful with arranging the tour and making sure everything was on track as the tour approached. The driver (Hoà) always made me feel safe when on the road, was varry patient when I suggested spending more time at certain spots, and he was fun too!
I also took an evening street food tour with them the day I arrived in Hanoi. It was an ideal introduction to the city's food, and the guide Ngọc was great - enthusiastic and also helpful when navigating the old quarter 's streets!

We travelled in Vietnam with five years old boy and 10 months baby. That’s why I thought, that a visit to Ha Giang will be too complicated for us. But now I am so excited that I found a review about YESD and decided to try Ha Giang comfort car ride and trek 5D/4N. It was an unforgettable experience and we had no problems travelling with two kids. We are nature lovers and very interested in local people life, so the tour was perfect for us. Our guide Ly Ly is one of the best guides we’ve ever met and our driver became the best friend of our senior boy :) They were super attentive and kind to us and especially to our kids. We are also very grateful to Linh Mai: all information was provided in a clear and timely manner with unprecedented care and friendliness. We hope that YESD will be capable to cope with challenges of covid19 and will help to discover the most beautiful sides of Vietnam for other travellers.

The four day private car tour from Hanoi did not disappoint. On our trip we saw some of the most rural parts of N Vietnam and arguably some of the most beautiful and dramatic scenery.

We stayed overnight in two homestays, one night with a Hmong family and one night with a Dar family (two of the largest ethnic minorities). This was an amazing opportunity to live in their house and join them for their evening meals. Although they didn’t speak very much English they are very welcoming, and to share this time with them was very special.

The trip was well organised and we were especially lucky to be looked after by Mr Quyet, our guide, who was extremely knowledgable and spoke excellent English. He was always cheerful and we were extremely lucky to have him look after us so that we were able to make the most of this incredible experience. We also have to mention Mr Hung, our driver, as weaving between the many mopeds, motorcycles trucks and cars required great skill!

We would not hesitate to recommend the tour for those who want to experience the authentic northern Vietnam.
