I spent 3 days on the province of Ha Hiang in December, doing a loop with Chu Chu and Windy in the rice terraces by motocycle, they are such wonderful and generous people, making their best to make the best of our experience. They are smiley, pay attention, make us try typical food on the way, stopping at every single amazing stop on the road. Thank you so much for everything!!

First thing first: if you want to explore Ha Giang province properly do it by motorbike, not by car. For a guided motorbike tour I really can recommend Dong Van Tours. We were 3 people and did the Ha Giang Discovery 3D2N tour with driver for the motorbikes (one of them was the English speaking tourguide). All three of them were very kind and extraordinarily safe driver. The motorbikes (Honda motocross bikes) were reasonable, especially if you compare that to other guided tours we saw on the loop. There were enough breaks for taking pictures, having a drink or just relaxing the butt ;-) The tourguide gave interesting information about the area and organized everything with the homestays pretty well. The homestays themselves were simple but sufficient (big dorms with sleeping niches). I really liked having dinner together with the drivers (that gave a good insight in the Vietnamese culture).

Seeing the Ha Giang loop while in Vietnam is a must. The scenery is other worldly and the entire experience was more than we expected. We had 4 days 3 nights with Chu Chu' House and he was so accommodating and friendly. Our guide was King Kong who made us feel safe, gave great information at the various stops and was good fun. As everything is included (except beer/ juice) we had some of the best food we had in SE Asia. Value for money was too good as with chu chu you stay in non-touristy minority families and he and his staff are very friendly and professional. We Had only ridden in Vietnam and automatic but they showed us how to work a semi automatic and we felt safe the entire time going slowly and carefully. It is difficult at times especially if it rains heavily and the roads are slippery. If you're comfortable driving (or keen to like us) would recommend for sure! Otherwise as many people do crash, I'd recommend going on the back of a guide as the scenery is best enjoyed open air! Tips: if you have flexibility check the weather forecast to aim for sun, avoid the weekends for quieter roads, ask for shoe covers before you go/ nip to a shop if it's likely to rain, take warm clothes as it can get cold in the mountains though we always had a hot shower, and avoid too much rice (/corn) wine as though we had great fun with karaoke and a big group of Vietnamese tourists, we had a heavy hangover the next day! - thanks Chu Chu and King Kong!

My partner and I were told we should visit Ha Giang by a friend. Neither of us felt comfortable on motorbikes, so we were going to just visit the city, but our friend told us that it wasn’t worth doing unless we did the loop. I found Chu Chu tours which could provide us with private guides that would be able to take each of us on a bike. Chu Chu was very helpful with helping us plan our trip and consistently communicated with us through out. Our friend that recommended it decided to join us and just rented his own bike, which Chu Chu was able to accomodate last minute. We were picked up by our two guides, Happy and Windy, who were not only extremely professional and made us feel completely safe, but were incredibly fun and made our trip. We were able to experience Vietnamese culture to its fullest by dining at the best selection of Vietnamese restaurants along the way, stopping to catch photos of the breathtaking scenery, and by being taught the local dining customs. It was by far one of the biggest highlights of our trip. I would recommend this tour to anyone, especially our spectacular guides, who we are now lucky enough to also call friends.

I went on the three day/two nights loop around Ha Giang province and it was honestly one of the best experiences during my three month travel in southeast Asia! The drivers were really good and so nice and friendly. Hade the best time going on the bike, swimming in a waterfall and doing a shorter trek. The evenings were also superfun as the drivers gathered everyone and taught us how to drink ”happy water” (corn vodka) Vietnamese style. If you are planning on doing the Ha Giang loop with a driver, go for Chu Chu’s agency, it is literally the best. Thank you guys for an amazing experience!
