Two of us (Aussies) booked a tour online with a guide through this company. It was, in short, really great. We took a punt and booked online and asked for a tailor made tour and all was inline with what was quoted. We were experienced motorcyclists with our own gear. I thought the price was quite reasonable for that personalized trip.

We had two near new Honda 150 trail bikes which were excellent, although a few things were not adjusted perfectly on pickup from the sub-let company. A throttle cable broke but a local guy en-route made a temporary fix that worked better than new. It was the only problem we had of any sort.

We did some home stays and backpacker type hotel which were good quality. Meet lots of people and saw some really beautifully scenery.

Our guide Chu Chu was excellent, good English, relaxed, not overbearing and flexible. He could relate well. I think taking a guide was a great way to do it. While just winging a trip like this can be done and has its own rewards, I think we saw more and understood more with our guide.

My motorbike tour of Ha Giang was one of the most unforgettable experiences I've ever had. At first I had been unsure about paying for a guide, but as a solo female traveler new to motorbikes I was hesitant to do the mountain roads alone--and now I'm incredibly happy with my decision to book with DV Tours.

Anna Tran's communication and coordination were excellent, and the price was fair (especially for a private tour). My guide, Chu Chu, was knowledgable, safe, friendly, and funny. He was able to communicate with many of the minority people in the area (who aren't always fluent in Vietnamese), which made it a much more personable experience than I would have had traveling alone or with other foreigners. I also turned out to enjoy riding on the back of the bike, since I was able to fully enjoy the scenery and snap pictures as we rode along instead of concentrating on the drive. The landscape was breathtaking, the homestays were wonderful, the food was delicious, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming and hospitable--especially since they already knew Chu Chu and seemed to be genuinely happy to see him.

Can't recommend highly enough!

I had a 6-day motorbike trip with my guide Bien Cuong (Aka King Kong). It was one of my best experience in Vietnam. The landscape, food, people were all wonderful. It is the best way to see this part of Vietnam.

Anna Tran was very pleasant too to communicate and responsive to all the questions and requests.

I will definitely return to Ha Giang soon.

Bottom line: unless you ask specificly for Chu Chu or King Cong as your tour guide, the DV tour is a bit to expansive for what you get.

We took the 3 days tour, with a guide and a driver (since we don't know how to ride a motorbike). We met Chu Chu the evening before the tour, he explained everything and told us that we will have a different guide on the first day and then he will arrive at the end of the first day. For whatever reason that did not happen and we stayed with the first guide (named Van) all 3 days. His english wasn't as good as Chu Chu's and aside from the food, drinks and other regular tour needs we didn't talk almost at all (which led to rather awkard 3 days) and all of our questions about the vilages remained unanswerd (either becuase he didn't understand the question or he didn't know how to answer in english). He also didn't take us to all the places in the tour (there was another trekking in the sunset in Dong Van that we didn't do) and that was a shame.
The driver, Hai, also didn't know english very well but was very nice and kind (and drove very carefully and safely).
The tour itself - the roads, the views - was great, I highly recommand going to Ha Giang even if just for 2 days, it's one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. But consider your options and what's important to you- the safety of the driving (was good in the first two days, a bit less in the last day), the price, the route, etc.

A mate and I went on a fantastic 4 day guided motorbike tour with DV tours. We rode the northern loop anti clockwise from Ha Giang through Bac Me, Yen Minh, Meo Vac, Dong Van and Quan Ba. Our guide, Chu Chu, was an awesome guy and very knowledgeable which added a lot of value to the trip. We mostly lodged at homestays which were a lot of fun and spent quality time enjoying the traditional way of life and cuisine with host families. The scenery is really breath taking and Chu Chu ensured we had ample time to absorb northern Vietnams incredible beauty. We were also able to chat to wonderful people from minority ethnic groups at schools and at the road side. We used Honda CRF150 L's which were near new and perfect for the road conditions. I highly recommend this Company, our Guide and the tour itself.

Our motorbike tour could not have been more Perfect! Upon arriving HaGiang, we received an invitation to a wedding reception which turned into just the beginning of many highlights of our Northern VN adventure. The following day we were greeted by our two guides Cương and Hai who outfitted us with helmets, knee and elbow guards and we departed on one of my greatest memories of my life. Besides the dramatic geological features of the spectacular scenery, the families providing the home stays were beautiful, kind and wonderful hosts. We did not want to say goodbye. But the number 1 reason to visit this area with Dong Van tours was our guide, Cương aka King Cong; he made the tour exquisite and filled with knowledge of every location we explored. He cared for our safety, comfort and interests with professionalism and humor. And with unlimited patience, as we are 'seasoned ' travelers who refused to recognize our 'limitations'.
I have been an owner/manager/guide in the adventure travel industry for almost 30 years and I can honestly state that this was one of my top guided adventures of my life and Cương made this trip Perfect!

I was a but hesitant on doing the tour. I'm traveling solo, it's past rice harvesting season and the weather forecast wasn't the most favorable, but I'm really glad I chose DV Tours. Even it was cloudy and foggy, the views are nothing but amazing. I can only imagine what it is to take the tour on a sunny day, enjoying the majestic views on the back of a motorbike. I joined a group of 3 people, a couple from Germany and a lady from Italy, and they were great company all way through.

Chu Chu, King Cong, Quoc and Hai are amazing drivers, taking us safely through the mountain roads, and showed great skill and care when the roads were slippery and muddy. We got some drizzle and part of the road was under construction, and at some points we had many trucks coming and they always made sure we were safe and fine. Chu Chu and Cong have very good command of English and all of them are really kind and fun! They are very welcoming and will always make sure you're having a good time and have your needs attended to the best they can. Chu Chu is very knowledgeable on Vietnamese culture and history, and will take you to the best spots for pictures and show you local flora. By the way, even after a week in Hanoi and a month in Ha Giang, on these 3 days I had the best food in Vietnam so far!

On the first night we stayed at a homestay and had a taste of local life on a village. We spent the second night at a guesthouse. Both accommodations were clean, comfortable, provided with hot water and great hospitality. We visited markets, the H'mong King's Palace and were left with a unique experience.

I couldn't recommend the tour and the guides more. And Anna provided excellent service all way through, with prompt replies and clearing whatever doubt one might have. A truly wonderful experience and certainly one not to be missed if you're in Vietnam!

The fact that I went with DV Tours in Ha Giang for the second time in one year surprised many people, to some extent, myself too.

But things were slightly different, King Kong was more like a friend than an experienced local guide, I also felt much less like a tourist.

I would also stress the importance to have a local guide to visit Ha Giang, Even though the cost may be lower when hiring a motorbike to do the loop, people will only enjoy the landscape without a good understanding and connection with the people if people just ride a motorbike for few days. As far as I am concerned, one of the reasons to return is to meet the beautiful people there again.

The trip was again flawless, from planning to execution. I would say it is not really possible to have better experience than that, said by someone who has visited Vietnam four times.

I plan to return again in the near future, here i thank everyone i met from DV Tours for the friendship and hardwork.
