This was our third time fishing in Los Barriles and first with Israel. We met him at his house at 6:00 AM and then it was a short ride to the launch. He was clear to tell us that each day is different and some days are better than others. That said, he put us on fish all day long. We picked up live bait ($20 or $40 US dollars) then started the day by catching Skipjacks, most of which we released as Israel said they weren't great eating. We then caught a nice snapper. After a bit of a lull he said he heard there was a school of dolphin about 10 miles away and we could go for tuna. I had mentioned my interest in this on the phone so we went for it. Once arriving at the school of dolphins (which was amazing to watch all day) we quickly had a "triple" of tuna. From then on we trolled near, with and around the dolphins. We had a couple "doubles" and at least one more triple. He filleted up one fish for us to cook and eat while we are here and he filleted, vacuumed packed and is freezing the rest until we leave ($2 per pound to vac pack & freeze). *It does cost an extra $50 to go out after tuna if they are way offshore which we were willing to pay. My wife doesn't love boats and he was respectful of her and making sure she felt comfortable throughout the day. Hooking and reeling in fish definitely helps too! I'm an avid fisherman in Oregon and have fished with a variety of guides over the years in the US and Mexico. Israel is top notch and worth booking a trip with (He's also the owner).

We fished with Isreal in May 2021 and it was a lot of fun. Not only will he put you on the fish but he is nice and patient explaining the best technique to reel it in. We will definitely call him again and highly recommend Cuyuyo's Sportfishing to family and friends!

We had the most incredible day fishing in the Sea of Cortez with Cuyuyo's Sportfishing. We met Isreal in the morning and were out on the boat quickly and able to watch the sunrise over the ocean. We headed out and within the first few minutes of putting our rods in the water we had some great wahoo fishing. I also brought my fly rod and when we got into situations where there were a lot of fish around my wife would throw the regular fishing set up and I would fly fish. Cuyuyo is a terrific human and guide. This is a total experience, seeing the landscape from the water, enjoying time on the boat, catching fish, and getting to know Cuyuyo. He is one of the best guides in Baja, cant wait to go back.

For our sons 6th birthday all he wanted was to go fishing to catch tuna and marlin .. Captain Israel did not disappoint! Nine tuna and 1 marlin later (the marlin was released) we returned all with big smiles !
Captain Israel was the best and we highly recommend him to anyone coming to Los Barriles that wants to fish .. We have an AirBnb here and all the guests who have fished with Cuyos have nothing but positive experiences!

We fished with Israel the owner of Cuyuyo Sportfishing last week and the experience did not disappoint. We've known him for two years and we knew that he will take good care of us. We sailed to Cerralvo Island early in the morning and within minutes of arriving to the fishing grounds the bite was on. The game of the day was Yellowtail and what a day it was! We landed a huge one and lost two others (our mistakes) within a 30 minutes window. My son cought an Amberjack which was not "planned" and another big Yellowtail. As the temperatures went up the fish went deeper and the bite died. Most of the boats were trolling without getting anything but Israel did not give up. He took us out to his secret jigging spot and we immediately started catching fish. My son cought the yellowtail of his life (around 35lbs) and I landed three white Bonita. I lost another two Yellowtail and then called it a day. Once were back in Los Barriles we found out that most of the boats out by Cerralvo got skunked that day.
Cuyuyo Sportfishing is the whole experience. Israel will take you out on his spacious super panga and then he will fillet, pack and freeze your fish for travel.
We are going back in April and can't wait to hook up with Israel for some Dorado fishing. If you are in Los Barriles and want to catch fish do yourself a favor and hire Cuyuyo Sportfishing.

Israel of Cuyuyo Sportfishing is the best in the East Cape. Over the course of the past twenty years, have fished with him consistently and he is a fishing Ninja! Does not disappoint! On this trip we caught 12 Yellowfin, several Sierra, two Dorado, Snapper, Grouper, and a big Amberjack and many other species. Amazing!

Got to Fish with Christian who is Israel's (Cuyuyo's) go to captain. Great day on the water in early June. Got some red Snapper and some Sea Bass in the boat. Christian spotted a Stripped Marlin on top water and got us in front of him ASAP. Could not get him to take the bait. Fished some more and spotted another Stripped Marlin on top water. Got us in front once more but couldn't get them to bite. Was still a fantastic trip and will definitely go back and fish with Cuyuyo. He runs Super Panga's and room for 3 people on the boat, launches right from the beach! Super fun way to head out. Cuyuyo also has 2 "hotel" rooms right at his property with 2 queens in each. Nice patio outside also. Los Barillas is a pretty cool little town with lots of Americans and Canadians living there. Never had any problem with letting my 18 yr old daughter and her boyfriend walk around town by them selves. Very safe. BTW ask Cuyuyo about winning the BisBee Marlin tournament and coming in 3rd the next year out of Cabo

We had an awesome fishing trip with Cuyuyo. If you want to catch fish Israel is the man! He knows exactly where to go and his skills are outstanding. He got us out to the fish and we landed sierra, dorado, grouper, snapper, amberjack, and lots of yellowfin tuna among others.

We've been fishing with Cuyuyo for many years. He always find us fish, many times enough to bring a cooler full back to the states, and his boats are great. Last year he added casitas for the convenience of his fishermen. They are a great addition to his business. The rooms are clean and comfortable and his family is warm and welcoming. He is located just far enough out of town to feel the country vibe. We look forward to staying with Cuyuyo every year when we go down to Los Barriles.

We have fished with Israel multiple times over the last 5 years. He's a great captain and works really hard to put you on the fish. Recently he's built 2 casitas on his property and a 2 bedroom house named Casa Torote. They all are beautiful and well built. We were the first to stay at Casa Torote and it was perfect. I definitely recommend fishing and staying with Israel on your next trip down.
