We are from Tucson, and so the nearest beach for us is in Puerto Penasco, Mexico (4 hours away). If you rent a house in Cholla Bay go there expecting to relax and have a laid back time. We love to spend the morning walking...More

We visited Cholla Bay on June 25, 2012 and parked our car at Tucson Beach - sadly the beach was trashed, garbage drums overflowed, used diapers, soiled toilet paper and human waste were strewn along the beach. Huge disappointed that such a beautiful place is...More

drive to J J's and park, have lunch and go shell hunting and beach combing, walk around the point, at low tide you can almost walk across the bay

Definitely our preferred place to hang out. Plenty of places to eat, drink, entertainment, and beautiful views. It's a little expensive to be honest, and don't eat ice remember that, we were sick for days!

JJ's is a must if you want a taste of what it was like in the 70's. Friday & Saturday nights are the best. Great view to have a taco and margarita ocean side.

Drove here from town not expecting to find anything spectacular and we sure didn't! There is not a decent beach here so I don't get the attraction.

The water is warm and clean. Excellent for small children. My grandkids had a blast. This was the first time my 4 yr old and 6 yr old grandkids had seen the ocean and they enjoyed the sunny beach.

Stayed a week on Cholla Bay in May 2018. Beautiful place with amazing beaches. Went swimming everyday and could not have been happier.

Check the tide schedule, and get out there during low tide for shelling! Found many sand dollars, shells, octopus (make sure your shells don't have any little guys living in them!) Gorgeous spot! Stop at JJ's for a bloody mary or margarita or cerveza!

What a beautiful place. Tucked away from the touristy spots. A quiet calm water bay. The sand is okay as it's a bit rocky. And the roads can be dusty. But bbn if you want to really get away...
