Was surprised at the cute little community Cholla Bay is. There is a park for kids, grocery, bars. You can drive on the beach and there are sand dunes to climb with your jeep or 4 wheeler. Nice little drive outside of town.

Beach was vacant except for some fishermen. Waters are more calm than on the open beach. Water was chilly but swim-able in Dec. Not much in town for eating or activities. Stick to the beach.

For the last 15 years I've been traveling to Puerto Penasco, Mexico (some call it Rocky Point) and just about every time someone says to me, "Oh, no, you're not going to Mexico, are you?" Just 62 miles across the border this town of 25,000 offers beautiful beaches, good restaurants and friendly natives and tourists. It is Phoenix' and Tuscon's... More

Maybe there is more activity in the summer in Cholla Bay but during the winter it is dead. Cholla Bay reminds us of what Penasco was like in the 80's & 90's. The only reason we had to go there was boredom and to go to JJ's.

Took the drive to Chilla Bay. I guess if you are looking for a place to buy property then you would like it. But except for JJ's Bar there isn't much to do. The beer was cold.

We spent a long weekend at a vacation rental and the kids had a great time. The beach was not too busy and so the kids got a chance to play in the sand and the water. As the tide went out, everyone got the chance to go shell hunting and a huge area of beach opened up due to... More

Cholla Bay is a lovely community, set apart from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Dirt roads wind through the town where brightly colored homes overlook the water. It is a beach haven for Americans, many of whom have been going there for decades. It is a great place to go shelling but please remember to be respectful of... More

This a fun place to go during low tide as it goes out for at least a mile. During that time, all of the invertebrate sea life that's in the sand, digs down to stay until the tide comes back in. At this time you can take a shovel and a bucket and collect clams and other "shellfish" and also... More
