Great walk up from hotel ibis , nice place once up there , just watch out for the dogs when walking ...it's a windey way up to the top not too many cars go up in the morning when I did , but once to top you will notice many scenic pictures when walking up , once at the top great view of Hermosillo , not to be missed

By going to Cerro de la campana, you can have a wonderful view from Hermosillo specially if you go during the sunset or night time. If you visit during summer dont even think about going during day time because from the hot weather you can feel dizzy or sick.

Hermosillo's Best view of the city is from up the hill. There is a snack bar so you can enjoy a good sunset. Look for the hallow rock that makes the sound that gives this mountain its name (no its not the bell shape, but the bell sound it makes when 2 rocks are banged together)

This place is awesome, very beautiful sunset and night view. BUT be careful with the people around you. On the way back from the mountain, we were robbed by two guys holding a knife. I gave them everything I have, they tried to step in my boyfriend for his backpack, he didnt give up the backpack, so they stepped in and cut his arms and necks, we had a terrible night there, and we drive back to the States immediately next day morning. I never write comments for any travel place, this time I want to tell everyone be carefully if you want to visit that place.

I recently moved to Hermosillo and the first thing you need to adjust to is the weather! So if you are visiting in the summer months, bring sunglasses, sunscreen and a giant hat cause it gets blistering hot! On to cerro de la campana! I am personally more of a city dweller and enjoy architecture over the "great outdoors" but this is a place you really need to visit while at Hermosillo. The road up the hill is awful. It is just atrocious, so go up the hill nice and slow so you dont get a concussion from the rattling of your car. Once you reach the top though, the sight is amazing. You get a panoramic view of the whole city. For all you romantics out there, if you make it there for the sunset you'll get to see the incredible light show mother nature puts on! You will see hues of orange, yellow, blue and purple that even a city boy like myself can't help to admit that the earth is an astonishing wonder! On your way back down make a sharp left that takes you up to the other side of the hill and here you learn why they call it cerro de la campana. There is a large boulder there that if you throw a rock at it, the boulder rings like a bell! Very cool. This is a 30 min visit at least, you can take lots of pictures and there is a small cafe. Hope you enjoy it!

I wish I had visited here my first day in town... but it was nice to go after I had been to many of the places I could see from the top. Visiting during daylight gives you a view of the 3 local cathedrals, the governor's palace, the museums, the local reservoir/lake and the airport. This viewpoint was also helpful since I'm "directionally challenged". I was able to see many little lizards, butterflies, cacti, and interesting rock formations.

To me, one of the most amazing things was the handmade road all the way up. It's like cobblestones, but made with smaller rocks. Unless you are in REALLY good shape- and with a local- I would recommend a taxi to get up/down. It's in the old part of town, so tourists stand out as targets for theft.... I do NOT think it's safe to walk (one reviewer talks about being robbed at knifepoint). Geologists will especially enjoy the rocks here- I've never seen anything like it in the states- beautiful!

Plan 2 trips, 1 during the day and one at night, if you are in Hermosillo during summer, even at night is hot up there, beautiful views of the downtown, north, east and south of the city. On the winter, plan to visit during the day since at night is pretty cold and windy.
