Small and remote, set on a hillock with views to the mountains and sea. Easily accessible from the main road. There is a very good hotel with excellent restaurant close by.

Robust structure with a commanding view of the sea. Walking along the beach you are overtaken by the beauty of the place. We stopped for a coffee at the nearby hotel. It would be a great place to stay if you had more time.

We were in time to see a bride and groom enter the church grounds. Their wedding was conducted alongside this church, only a photographer and minister/celebrant attended. It is a striking church in a picturesque setting and the wedding completed the perfect picture.

What a picturesque spot! Its a two minute drive off the main road, there is a small parking lot, there's no admission fee, and if you are lucky you'll have it all to yourself. Church was locked when we were there but the outside and the setting was so stunning! A very "Instagrammable" place.

The original Búðakirkja was built in 1703 but, due to lack of attendees, the church was torn down. It was rebuilt in 1987 after a sole member of the church requested to bring it back. The stark blackness and isolation is the main attraction, though some ancient relics and historic graveyard are impressive. Though isolated it is often crowded so hard to get a photo of it or with it without anyone else in the photo.
