This church sits alone in a broad expanse of meadow with wild mist-clad mountains behind it. As the oldest wooden church in Iceland it has a fascinating history and it is marvellously photogenic. It is well worth making some effort to get there. Our only...More

This church is known for being one of the most beautiful spots to see aurora. Its location is far enough from main street but still easy to access. The building was small with simple architecture. But the quite and no residents environment made the church...More

Definitely worth a little detour to see this stunning church. You can eat/stay at the Hotel Budir close by.

The Budir church is a short distance off of the main road on the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The stark black of the church contrasts very well with the snowy mountains and the blue sky (if the clouds cooperate!)

This church is so beautiful and has such quaint charm. Very busy tourist spot and of course you can’t go in unless their is an event. I will forever remember this church. It holds a piece of my heart ❤️

Went by there to see the sites and photograph the church. There is not much to do around there....so it is best to incorporate a trip to Kirkjufellsfoss and other sites around. Approx 2.5 hours from Reykjavik. Make sure you stop for gas in Borgarnes....

The Black Church is a photographers’ favorite and it is not hard to see why. It’s beautiful in its simplicity, perched on high ground with the mountain range behind and the ocean in front. It looks good in any way or any time you shoot...More
