Took a gentle but relentless winding walkway down the gorge toward the end of the day when long shadows and cast to astound you with the myriad of colors, shades and grades of this spectacular natural gorge. Well traveled and well maintained with railings for...More

According to the news a terrible tragedy occurred in late August. A flash flood killed ten people in the canyon below the bridge. When we walked down the steep walk to the bridge in late September is was cordoned off with a sign stating that...More

A one in a lifetime experience... we actually walked all the way down and back .... it was a lot of effort but definitely worth it! There is also a navetta available.

As we were lodging in the hotel just above the gorge, we managed to get there early in the morning (the sun didn't reach the bottom yet), so we were alone. Nice walk up the stream and refreshing bath in under a waterfall. When we...More

Hike down a zig-zag incline from the center of town to the bridge for a view of the gorge and shallow Ranganello river. If you don't want to make the climb back up, there is a jeep type vehicle available.

The well maintained paved route down took about an hour taking it slowly and a bit longer going back (stopping off for a drink at the cafe about half way up. Take plenty of water. Took a picnic down and went below the bridge down...More

Worth the long descent on an excellent stairway, but a tough climb back out, although retrieval via 4-wheel drive is possible. The gorge is a seismic canyon, not erosion caused, and is located at the base of an impressive cliff wall. Bridge was rebuilt after...More

This is a must-do in Civita. The canyon is spectacular viewed from town or from the Devil's Bridge. It is quite the walk down on stone stairs. Without knowing for sure how far we would go, we hiked downstream from the bridge on the town...More
