All very kind, but on the day of our visit the delicatessen was not active and so a good part of the visit we did to empty rooms. The products we were offered for tasting were in really modest quantities and certainly not of excellent quality. The museum is just a hypothesis. The kindness and competence of our guide unfortunately do not manage to overlook an inadequate paid price taking into account the above. Frankly I would recommend visiting other.

We were guided by Michela and her infant son Mirco. We were with our toddler, so great family environment!

The tour was very informative, we really learned a lot. This is a family business, so a lot of passion involved.

The tasting - delicious! We bought some to take with us on the rest of our travels. A large piece was EUR 20. The tour and tasting was EUR 42 for 2.

Overall, great service, interesting tour, delicious tasting - very recommended.

No doubt you will be impressed by the scale of a commercial meat factory, but aside from lots of hanging hams there is surprisingly little to see. Perhaps the biggest surprise for me was that I was underwhelmed by the final product. I can't see paying to buy this product in a market. Perhaps it's a matter of taste.

Michela was a terrific guide, carefully explaining the ham-making process to us.

Throughout the 30 minute English tour, we could tell the passion for her family craft and, left Conti appreciating prosciutto ham even more.

A must-do tour for foodies đź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ť

I enjoy to go to the most interesting tourist attractions in each country. Salumificio Conti is the correct name of the factory tour and tasting afterwards, and you can see that my photos are of the same place in the existing TripAdvisor reviews. There are many tourist attractions around the world where you must hire a professional guide, like going into the Grand Canyon in the USA, for example. We wanted to create a personal gastronomic tour of the Parma/Modena region of Italy, and started our research on the internet to decide how to visit prosciutto and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese producers in the most optimal way. We quickly learned that the producers are not open to the public and that you must hire a licensed professional guide, who, in effect, has full knowledge and capability to circulate those facilities on their own. Because Salumificio Conti is a licensed food producer, you must also have a guide here. We searched TripAdvisor reviews of other attractions in this area and found a guide that we used for this and other special food tours.

People who enjoy special foods often wonder how they are made, and the production of specialty cured meats is very interesting. They explain about the life of the special pigs from birth, but the tour starts with the legs of ham before any processing. You follow the process throughout the factory, ending with the storage room where meats are cured for at least 16 months. The tasting room afterwards enables you to try the meats with different ages, matched to the local wine. Some items are available for purchase in the tasting room.

If you enjoy specialty foods and wonder how they are made, this tour is for you.

Quite interesting to see the whole production process of Parma ham. This is a family business, which is neat. You can see the areas for each step in the process, however, not all parts are done every day. The best part is enjoying a tasting at the end. While the hams are aged, having it freshly sliced is so much better.

They are open for tours every day, which is convenient.

Great meatpackers company. We had a great tour throughout the facility, which seemed very well taken care of. Very modern facility and clean practices. The tasting at the end was delicious.

Very informative tour where we learned about the production of parma ham. It’s amazing to see the cellar where thousands of legs of ham are hung up to age. And our guide, Michela, is super passionate, explaining and answering many questions we had.

We also had really amazing prosciutto at the end. We only had prepackaged sliced ones before, and freshly sliced prosciutto is just totally different - thin and delicate, and not too dry. We wanted to buy some slices to takeaway but was advised not to, in the summer heat. (They do sell blocks of it, if you are able to slice them yourself)

Also learned interesting facts about the process - one titbit that I got to know of: Parma ham is sold just as that, with very little information of the producer - just the 3 digit code or maybe the name in small font. This is as the quality is controlled, so to an end consumer, you just need to know you are eating parma ham.

Thanks Michela for the amazing tour (and also so kindly helping us with our transport mishap!) (If you are going by bus, so check the timings and days - the bus going up to near the factory doesn’t run everyday!)
