If you’re looking for a laid back, low-key beach away from the crowds and mass market of Cancún this is for you. Nice cocktails, seafood and beach huts, perfect fine white sand. Only down side is the omnipresent sargassum seaweed. More needs to be done by the government and businesses to find a sustainable solution to it!

Best kept secret beach in the Riviera Maya and a local hangout. Playa Xpu Ha is located 30 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. Soft white sand beach, turquoise water, calm water is the draw. Xpu ha maintains a kicked back, chill vibe, and uncrowded. More locals than tourists. Bring your picnic cooler or just go to one of the many beach bars.

We went diving with captain Victor and Cenote Xperience from Xpuha beach. Great diving experience!!! I highly recommend them. We didn’t really use the beach facilities but they looked nice. I liked that the water was deep enough for people to really get in unlike our resort where the concrete things limited water depth to hip deep at best. That seems to be a thing with resorts in the area.

We visited Xpu-ha beach club yesterday. We did enjoy our day but:

1. They have a crime scene looking yellow tape around the perimeter of their beach club that looks just stupid. When I come to the beach and lay on the lounger, yellow tape is not what I want to see when I look at the ocean (((

2. They brought us VERY moldy carrot cake. Please look at the pic attached. Its not that it was moldy a little on the side - the whole back of the cake was all mold.
Simply said - sorry. Nothing else. No free replacement, or a complimentary drink...But its not even that...its the idea that they didn't even look at the food they were bringing out....which makes me think - what else do they overlook or handle with neglect....

Our waiter Omar (he was not the one who brought out the moldy cake) was great! Friendly and professional. His service was personal, we all felt well taken care of by him.

Right now plenty of seaweed.

Water is beautiful and clear
Beaches have white fluffy sand and the temperature there is pleasant all year around!
I’ve been back twice, and wouldn’t hesitate going back again!!

Although the beach is nice, we remember it as a bad and waste of time memory.
It's located near the Cenote Azul we visited before, so after it we went here for the beach day.
There are 4 access roads leading to it from the highway. On every of them, just as you turn there's a toll booth where they charge 50 to 100 pesos PER PERSON in the car only to enter the beach. I don't know who's in charge of that and who's collecting that money, since Mexico beaches are free to everyone.
We returned to the road where's 50 Ps, paid and got nothing. The parking lot was full, waited 20 min for someone to leave just to park our car.
Then at the beach there wasn't a single sunbed or umbrella or table at restaurant available.
I was so angry being charged for nothing, so after a quick swim we left.
Don't waste your time and money, rather go somewhere else.

Is a great beach, this is our second time around, after 5-6 years there are more restaurants and beach clubs, but still wonderful, there’s a 50 pesos entrance fee per person if you enter thru Serenity beach club, we tried other entrances like Bonanza but you have to pay 100 per person, besides, Bonanza is not a beach club and the person in the entrance is VERY rude.
Serenity is better and service is also way better.

The sand is very soft and the water absolutely crystal clear. Walk north in front of the deserted resorts and appreciate the calm water on the rocks. I saw a Manta Ray just walking on the shallow area. I do not mind paying $100 Mx to get in if I can use the showers and toilet. The issue is that the beach clubs drinks and food are pricey. I spent $26 USD on 3 drinks and tip.
