In the heart of Ireland, just over 1 hour from Dublin lies the town of Kilbeggan, home to the world's oldest distillery, established in 1757. It is the quintessential Irish whiskey distillery - whitewashed walls, weathered slate roof, brick chimney stack, creaking timber water wheel, even regular ghost sightings. This is no mere "visitor centre" but a real working distillery run by a team of young enthusiastic craftspeople (and a few wise old heads too), skilled in the traditional ways of making Irish whiskey. Open 7 days (except during Christmas and New Year). On-site Restaurant. Whiskey Bar. Gift Shop. Free parking.

I had lunch here with family and it was really excellent. We had toasted sandwiches which were packed with filling and really tasty. So much better than the normal sandwich offering in other places. The staff were very helpful too. I would highly recommend this and it was excellent value for money.

Today I had guests from abroad, who are interested in ''Irish whiskey trail''. I decided carry him to the Kilbeggan distillery. We enjoyed walking around the ancient buildings, monitor whiskey production process. The day was chilly, but a dash of whiskey, which tasted at local bar, warms us

Not a very large distillery but a fun jaunt. I did not do a guided tour but that may have been a better choice. Overall it was enjoyable and the people if the tarting area were very friendly and although not a whiskey drinker I did find it yo be very smooth and warming on this wet and dreary day.

Had a really enjoyable time at the distillery today. Our tour guide Dean was very friendly, knowledgeable and informative in relation to all aspects of the tour and the distillation process. The distillery is a real gem, retaining so much of its original beauty and charm. Having visited several distilleries around Ireland this is definitely my favourite and I would... More

Everytime I have a friends or family visiting me I am taking them for a visit to distillery. Never had any complaints. All of us always enjoyed the time spend there.

Production might be limited at the distillery, but the historical aspects of the tour are very interesting. Would love to have been there when the river was not flooded to see the waterwheel-powered machinery in action! Tour included whiskey tasting of a selection of Kilbeggan products.

Did the tour with the whiskey tasting at the end- all their whiskeys are smooth and great tasting. The tour was very interesting and to see all the old school equipment still in place in this historic distillery. Cafe has good food too. Will definitely visit again.

The walk through the distillery took us about 1 1/2 hours. it offers a complete set of information about the process of whiskey making. So worth to see if you´re interested in that kind of stuff. sadly, the whiskey itself, or at least the one offered to us fr the final tasting, is not the best.
