Carlos Scuba was great. Charro and his team run a laid back, yet very safe and sane operation with small groups and personalized service. We spent a week in Zihuatanejo and needed a refresher course before going on a couple beginner dives. Yle and Giorgi were very patient with our group of 3 and had a relaxed, professional approach to reminding us how to clear, how to remove/replace our bcd's and other skills we'd forgotten. It was very cool to be able to walk literally 20 steps from the dive shop to the water to do our re-training. On our 1 tank dive after the basics we did a reef and as soon as we descended we saw a mature Moray swim right past us! Our second day we did a reef of the Beaches in Ixtapa where we checked out the "Puffer Fish Condo", which was an area that had dozens of small nooks, each with a fugu in it. The puffer fish were very curious and cute and followed us around. Our last dive was in 'The Cove'. The conditions in the current-protected cove were crystal clear. There were many stingray, it reminded me of snorkeling in the Mediterranean a little bit. I've done dozens of dives and never had the right weight or wetsuit (spaz). And, I've always had trouble with my mask. Charro eyeballed me and got all 3 right on the first shot. I tried to buy the mask from him and he just gave it to me. We were happy to return to Zihuatanejo and one of the first things on our to-do list was to contact Thierry at Carlo Scuba and set up a two tank dive. We did our open water dives to complete our Padi certification with Carlo Scuba in 2014 and they remain the best dive shop/team we’ve come across after diving many locations in Mexico and Hawaii. Thierry is personable, knowledgeable, and has a great sense of humor - and the people he works with have the same positive outlook. This time, Thierry was our boat captain while Ylenia and Giorgia - two young ladies from Bologna Italy, were our divemasters. There were three of us diving along with another divemaster, so we felt very safe. It had been almost two years since our last dive, so they made sure the dive briefing was more detailed than usual, and made sure we felt comfortable with the dive plan. Both Ylenia and Giorgia were very attentive, safety conscious and clearly know what they are doing. The two dive locations selected provided good variety (interesting rocky formations in the first case and coral in the second) and were well suited to the experience of the divers. Ylenia did a great job of spotting and pointing out examples of the local sea life and made sure everyone had a chance for a close up look. Overall another fantastic diving experience with a great dive shop. Highly recommended.…

We had a wonderful time with Carlo Scuba. Booking with Thierry was super easy, even while on the run in Zihuatenejo. Our dive master Jess was an absolute pleasure to meet and dive with. She clearly knows the area well and has a personality and passion for diving that made our day very special. We saw sea turtles, octopus, seahorses and much more on a 2 tank dive.
