Help baby sea turtles reach the sea for the first time on a visit to a sea turtle sanctuary outside of Puerto Escondido. The evening trip includes round-trip transportation so you can reach the remote beach without the hassle of renting a car. It’s never over crowded and there are some shady places to relax. We like to go down and explore the tide pools. I think it’s too wild to swim here myself at the main part of the beach but some ppl do.

We spent the afternoon here. Got a coco from the guy up on the road and enjoyed several hours of quiet with other mellow people. Yes, the waves were intense ( it was a red flag day) but there’s shade under the trees, beautiful water and a beach where you can just relax. The abandoned water park gives its sort of surreal vibe. They are working on the hotel, which was damaged in a hurricane years ago, so don’t expect this hidden gem to last.

The road entrance has been posted as private property. The owner has concerns about crimes that have occurred on the property, including 2 robberies and 2 rapes. It is private property. The path to the beach is littered with garbage and there have been two major brush fires in the past 2 years. Since being posted, about 2 weeks ago, the signage has been vandalized and the fence that was erected to stop entry has also been vandalized. To a few the risks involved and the rights of the owner are being cast aside. The signage does note that the beach can be accessed from Playa Bococho.

No longer accessible. A sturdy fence has been installed to block access to the trail down to the beach. Private owner.

Compared to the other beaches Coral is harder to access. A path from the street is steep, but very doable and from Playa Bacocho by climbing over the rocks, also not easy but very possible. For your trouble you get to share the beach with others who want to be away from the crowds. Bring your own drinks and food, there are no services, be careful if you swim, the waves can be strong and in some places the rocks are close to the surface. The sunsets are amazing!
