If you're in Puerto Escondido, do this!!! We spent two weeks crisscrossing central and southern Mexico, and the Lagoon of Manialtepec was definitely a highlight. Pictures fail to adequately capture the beauty of the bioluminescence or the uniqueness of the experience. We were fortunate to have a dark night, which made the glow around the swimmers and the sparkling microorganisms all the more impressive. Efraín, our guide, was the best—informative, professional, and kind. We never felt unsafe. If we're ever back in Puerto Escondido, we'll definitely do it again. So go for it. It'll probably the best $40 you've spent in a long time.

4 of us had a fabulous dinner here! Alexis was our server and he was awesome. The vibe in the restaurant was great, very friendly and welcoming but also upscale with beautiful pottery and massive natural wood dining tables. Everything on the menu looked great and it was hard to choose, so take our advice and pick from the specials board. All of our dishes were outstanding with obviously very fresh local ingredients. To top it off, it was raining when we were leaving and Alexis ran out and got us a cab ensuring we got home safely. You can’t ask for more!!!

This was such a cool experience! They contacted us and said that we should come a day earlier because the moonlight would be less strong to see the bioluminescence. The lagoon was BEAUTIFUL and the birds were so cool. Our guides were very knowledgeable about chacahua, it’s residents, the animal and plant life, and the history of puerto Escondido. I would do this trip again in a heart beat! The bioluminescence was not very strong, due to the weather the time of year I went- but it was still so cool and the guides did their best so that we could experience it.

My daughter was so excited to do this. But the overall experience was just lovely. The rescue area is far away from PE, so there are no crowds, just a big protected empty beach. The guides are clearly passionate about their work, and answer all the questions you have in English or Spanish. There is nothing rushed or overly commercial feeling about it, just the release and then sitting and watching your turtle racing to the surf, resting, racing, and at last, in. Its a worthy project and not one supported by the government so your tour money is going to support a good cause as well. Bonus...you sneal in a sunset on a deserted beach. Enrique was our guide for the biolumenescents - but he is a PE native and knows everything that is going on so we were able to do this before the lagoon. He was a great driver, guide and even stopped by a secret local beach on the way back to see an amazing view.

We are in Puerto Escondido and its the one thing my daughter really wanted to do. So I don't think I really spent much time anticipating what it was going to be like. But I was so suprised and pleased by how organized and professional the tour was, and Efrain - our guide - made it such a great experience. He was informative, warm, thoughtful and encouraging to my daughter to jump in and swim. She is still beaming about it. I would recommend the tour to anyone who is even considering it. Its a peaceful prettty lagoon, amazing natural phenomenon and the guides are generous with the time so you never feel rushed. Just great.
