We just came back from a three hour boat tour with Lorenzo and it was a fantastic experience - definitely the highlight of our 1 week stay in Puerto E. We saw three types of dolphins including a school of more than 100 spinners. We stayed with this group for along time. Guests were offered the chance to snorkel with the dolphins. Our trip was extended when Lorenzo spied a humpback in the distance and we got to witness this majestic beast first hand. Lorenzo was informative and helpful. Thanks for a great trip, Lorenzo.
Of special note, Lorenzo and the boat operator took the time to pick up plastic waste from the water.

Lorenzo was able to fit me into his operation's dive schedule with a day's notice, even reaching out to me with WhatsApp to let me know a spot opened up for me--I was thrilled that he went out of his way to get me diving!

I ended up diving with Arturo and Francesca and had an absolute blast! They went out of their way to find the most interesting sights and animals (turtles, BEAUTIFUL nudibranchs, triggerfish, moray eels, etc.). I really appreciated that they were so respectful of the animals and appreciated them from a distance (Arturo even took the time to retrieve fishing lines that were tangled all throughout the rocks).

100% sure I will be diving with them again!

Arturo is a super guy.
We signed up for the dive the day before and there were only two other divers besides us.
Super organization, very good quality equipment and everything according to safety procedures.
Underwater was not crazy, but I could see where I was going to dive.
I recommend highly!

I was really enjoying this trip until about half way through when we came across one of many sea turtles off the coast of Puerto Escondido. The skipper of the boat offered to catch it and pick it up out of the water so we could take photos. I said no straight away and asked a few times that the turtle was left alone. Nevertheless, he did, and our guide from Deep Blue Dive DID NOT stop him. The skipper hauled the turtle onto the boat, pulling it around, and let the other passenger take photos and stroke it. Our guide jumped off the boat into the sea with her own waterproof camera and took photos of the turtle propped up on the side of the boat saying how sweet it looked, obviously enjoying the opportunity.

All this time I was getting more agitated and saying that it was cruel and the turtle should be put back as this was the absolute wrong thing to do. Eventually our guide asked the skipper to return it.

I was really shocked that what I thought was a responsible dive company would do this. Even if the skipper wasn't a direct employee of the firm, I'm horrified that the guide didn't put a stop to it and actually seemed to encourage it herself.

I went to speak to the owner after the trip ended and he said he was disappointed, didn't agree with the behaviour, and that he would need to have words with the skipper. To add balance, I saw a couple of other boats do the same thing on our trip that day, but it doesn't make it right.

Dear Arin, please allow me to ask you publicly to forgive me, again, for this bad accident. It is simply something not acceptable and i, as owner and founder of my dive center, take full responsibility for the behavior of my crew. I've spent all my carreer trying to let people understand the importance of respect the wild life and always condemning the practice of picking turtles on boat (belive me it costed me serious argues with local operators) and earning some kind of reputation and this make me feel even worst, considering that kind of behavior came from people working for me.It is not any excuse but the i have a new capitan who, as all locals capitan here, has this attitude (unfortunately it is the easiest way to get easy money taking advantage of the ignorance of many people. "we go for a boat tour, we pick a turtle on boat and you can do the photo" They sell it like this, and they are always full.) and wasn't aware that i absolutely don't want. Sad thing he was sure to make you a favor. Belive me i "spoke" with both of them. I'm very sad for what happened, it is the real first accident of this kind, i'm really sorry it happened and it will never happen again. Sincerly Lorenzo

There are three SCUBA operators in PE. I dove with them all but did not take any certification courses from any of them. The personnel at all three shops were friendly, but Deep Blue Dive offered the best boat, the best equipment, the most interesting dives. I would recommend this operator.

Lorenzo runs this friendly company from Hotel Innes, at a very conveninient point in the main strip of Puerto Escondidos. An Italian transplant, and gentle soul, he shared his love of the sea and it's beauty with us today.

Though both advanced open water PADI divers, today we experienced, in a few hours, things we have never seen in 15 plus years of diving. Lorenzo found us a huge school of manta rays, which we were able to jump in and snorkel with. Next we passed many turtles on the way to mingle with a huge school of dolphins. There must have been hundreds. It was unbelievable We held onto ropes from the bow as the boat pulled as along and the lovely, free, and wild dolphin visited. The only way to truly swim with dolphins, on their terms and by their choice. Outstanding.

If you have a chance you must do this.

Not to be missed!

Saludos!

I made a booking through Facebook and when I got to the place they weren't expecting me at all. They told me dives had been cancelled all week due to conditions. I understand that is part of the nature of diving but it would've been kind from them to cancel the in advance.

Deep Blue Dive had presented with the opportunity to see another world, the underwater world. I had never Scuba dived prior to Puerto Escondido, but whilst in Puerto, I decided to take the 'plunge' and try SCUBA diving.

Lorenzo at Deep Blue Dive was our guide and instructor, he made the experience feel safe, unique and fun, so fun in fact that my group and I had dived a total of around 11 - 13 times whilst in Puerto.

Recommendation for diving in Puerto, try Scuba Diving at Night Time, the coolest part about it is viewing the bioluminescent phytoplankton.. the water explodes into tiny neon blue lights!

Lorenzo and Francesca are a warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive team. We began communicating with Lorenzo to plan our adventure months ago and he was very responsive and helpful via email. Four of us went on the whale/dolphin snorkel tour in the morning, and then my daughter (15 yrs old) and I went diving. Unfortunately we did not snorkel as we were unable to locate a pod large enough to accommodate people in the water, but we did see four species of dolphins and had a very enjoyable morning. Lorenzo and their 3rd associate (can’t recall his name) led the afternoon dive. They were very helpful and the pre-dive briefing was excellent so we knew exactly what to do and expect...they were patient every step of the way as we are both novice divers. The day had heavy currents so it was a bit cloudy underwater. BUT, we still saw many fish and other interesting things. Overall it was a day well-spent.

We traveled to Puerto Escondido in June. Some members of our group are SCUBA certified but most were not so we wanted to just go out on a boat and see some dolphins, turtles, and snorkel in the water. We talked to Lorenzo in the shop and due to the large waves at the time (Big Wave Surf Contest) he recommended a better day when the water would be clearer. Our day arrived and we met him at the shop. He drove us down to the marina where we met two other assistants in the boat. There were five of us total, including a five year old child. We felt completely safe with Lorenzo and his staff. They found several pods of dolphins and several sea turtles for us. It was great. Anytime we got into the water to snorkel, Lorenzo also got into the water with us, which made us feel very safe. The boat operators were very conscientious also. Lorenzo spoke both Spanish and English so all of us could understand. They also found us a great snorkel spot at a reef with many fish. I would highly recommend this dive company for both snorkel trips and dive trips.
