Wow. What a place. We planned to visit for a day and ended up staying for 3. We completely fell in love. I don't usually leave many reviews (and I want to keep this place to myself) but Chacahua really is one of those special places. We stayed at a lovely cabana on the lagoon (ask for Ray). Cheap and... It's a bit difficult to get there: plan 01H30 from Puerto Escondido but it definitely worth the trip. After a lovely boat ride you will get to a wonderful beach with only a few people. Moreover if you want to do surf there is a fine right you can enjoy with only locals in the water.

This is an all-day tour and lets you see a little bit of everything about Oaxaca. You drive along the old highway to Acapulco, and see the agriculture industry of the region: coconut palms, papaya, mango, and cattle. You experience real villages and the authentic way of life of the people, including a remote island where solar panels provide the... More

We enjoyed our 2 nights stay here. We stayed at Restaurant 7 Mares. The accomodation is very basic but cheap. The whole affair is pretty low key (with it's good sides and bad sides). Transport to get there can be a bit tedious. You have to get to Zapolito, and then take a boat. The locals will encourage you to... More

Spent a very good time on the beach here. This is not a tourist destination, so don't expect fancy accommodation, clean toilets and other facilities. There is no phone signal or WIFI whatsoever. It's a very isolated place, called Chacahua, you can reach from Pto Escondido with 2 colectivos and a $25 boat over the big lagoon, or your own... More

I gave Chacahua a rating of 3, which was an average of low rating for lodging and basic sanitation and a high for natural beauty and seclusion. Also, I'm going to focus on lodging and meals, which aren't well covered in other TA reviews. But first, don't hesitate to take public transportation. This is from someone who doesn't speak Spanish... More

Great place to get away from absolutely everything. Nice people on the restaurants, I loved the tour on the manglares, the sky at night, the beach, the view from the lighthouse... everything. <3 Also, I've heard it's great for surfing.

This really is an amazing place to visit. With no telephone or internet reception and just the few cabanas and simple restaurants scattered along the beach, this really makes for the perfect get away. We were here for 3 nights and had the most relaxing and peaceful escape. The local people here are extremely friendly, it's cheap, and has great... More

It is a beautiful place!!! I stayed in cabaña "siete mares" , the man working there is such a nice person! The food is delicious! Later, I ate in "zahmar" (I believe that was the name) the boys took us to see the fluorescense in the middle of the night, that was just an exceptional experience! the sky full of... More
