Beautiful artwork, thought provoking, with peaceful gallery space to appreciate it in. We first visited 18 years ago when it was purely tapestries, but the artist Leila has now been joined by her daughter and the gallery is now got some lovely rugs, paintings and...More

The Hoxa Tapestry Gallery is definitely worth the (small) detour. Leila Thomson has managed to capture in her magnificent tapestries the true colours and feelings of Orkney landscapes and life. The tapestries are expensive (definitely justified when considering the amount of work that has gone...More

Beautiful tapestries representing various Orkney landscapes. So much work has gone into them. The price reflects this but you can also buy much more affordable prints (we bought 2). There are also rugs available and if you fancy having a go yourself, there is wool...More

We went not intending to buy but came out with two large and two small pieces of work. The paintings and tapestries capture the moods of Orkney, and a print is very reasonable in price.

Some very original and interesting tapestry, paintings and wood pieces. It may look out of the way but it’s worth the drive.

Situated on the banks of the sea along a winding country road. The tapestries are amazing, beautifully worked. Not really that expensive if you consider the work that goes into them.

The tapestries are hand made and are fabulous pieces of art with appropriate price tags. Rugs are also made and are lush and gorgeous. Prints of the tapestries and cards are available. Visit the Hoxa tearoom when you're there.

This lovely retail facility is located out on a very remote road on a very remote island in the Orkneys. I was running late and it didn't help that the road is not marked very well, so I arrived about 10 minutes before closing but...More

This women is one of the most talented Scottish artists I've ever come across. Who would have thought anyone could cram so much into a tapestry.
