I found Carlos Riviera on the internet and was lucky with the results. His English is perfect. He helped plan our time in Puebla and Cholula for two days and provided transportation to and from Mexico City. His rates are very fair.
We went on a barrio tour by car in Puebla, a walking tour of the central city and a car trip out of the center to see the exquisite Baroque Museum designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito. In Cholula we went to the spectacular pyramid but the important churches were closed so he quickly suggested a talavera factory and showroom with beautiful tiles for purchase.
Carlos is interesting, knowledgeable, responsive and has a good sense of humor. Highly recommended.

We did a cooking class with Carlos and his wife Leti in their home. Carlos is soooo knowledgeable, speaks excellent English, and is very professional in communicating with us via email and WhatsApp in advance of our trip to Puebla. 100% recommend!

When we were planning our trip we were nervous about whether or not many tour guides like Carlos were open - but he is and he responded to all of our emails very quickly, so I recommend reaching out to him if you are thinking of traveling to Puebla or the surrounding region!

We had a great experience with Carlos Rivero. We had a group of 6 persons. He picked us up at the Mexico City airport. Made it very easy on us. On the ride from Mexico City to Puebla he imparted much information about Mexico and the areas we were driving through. Took us directly to our hotel. Made sure we were taken care of. The next day he picked us up for a tour of Cholula. His explanation of the history of Cholula was incredible. What a historian! Afterwards we went to other museums of Cholula that were optional. He gave us the recommendation of where to eat lunch and we all ate together. He took us to a couple of other places after Cholula and eventually up to the battlefield of Cinco de Mayo where again he amazed us with his knowledge of the history and details of the battle. It was a great day. He also drove us back to Mexico City airport when we left several days later. We cannot recommend him enough. His prices are very reasonable. We would definitely use him again. When we left Puebla we felt we had made a really great friend.

Recently returned from Puebla, Mx in February after first visiting in October. Once again we use Caros Rivero for our tour needs. As usual, we all felt he is the best ever! This time, we took him on separate trips to Atlixco and Tlaxcala on separate days. There were a total of 3 us, all students at the Spanish Institute Puebla. Our excursion to Atlixco was great! We especially wanted to see the flower and plant vendors (vivideros) on the main highway. We really enjoyed walking through the greenhouses and seeing the different types of plants they were selling. From there we went into the center of town where Carlos spent a lot of time explaining the murals to us. We wanted to see the steps with the paintings on them which was another main reason it is great to have a guide. From there, he took us into the food market, where vendors were shouting at us to have lunch. Carlos knew exactly where to take us for lunch which was delicious and cheap! Carlos is a very knowledgeable guide and speaks both English and Spanish. I will give a separate review of Tlaxcala which was also great!

Carlos did so much for us to make our trip to central Mexico fun, interesting, comfortable, and safe. We wanted to see ancient sites that are off the beaten track, and Carlos really delivered. We visited Cantona, which is a vast and fascinating area, only partially excavated, and so impressive. We practically had the place to ourselves! He also took us to a village in Tlaxcala state, where there are pyramids with beautifully preserved murals. There was a saint's day being celebrated as well so there was all kinds of hustle, bustle, and crowds. Carlos knew just how to time our trip to avoid the worst traffic - something we came to greatly appreciate.
We also visited some lovely sites in the City of Puebla. I would love to go back, and will surely ask Carlos to help make it special!

What a great time in Puebla! Carlos provided round trip service from Mexico City Airport to our hotel in Puebla. Every second of the time spent with Carlos was educational and extremely enjoyable and informative. Our day tour to Cholula de Rivadavia and the Great Pyramid, with the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios on top was phenomenal. The churches in the Puebla area are exquisite and Carlos adds his personal touch to every site we visited. Thank you Carlos! We will definitely see you again my friend.

Although we only met Carlos because he provided us with a very very early morning airport transfer, I can definitely say that my experience with Carlos left me excited to try and travel with him more as a personal guide. I am trying to improve my Spanish and he was so friendly and accommodating with the way he helped me with my newfound language. He is personable, friendly, with an easy manner and so much information to share. Highly recommended.

I recently spent 7 weeks in Puebla, MX. A friend introduced me to Carlos Rivero who escorted us to Atlixco and Tlaxcala on two weekends. Carlos is punctual and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to accommodate our language preferences in Spanish and English. Our day trips were comfortably paced and met our expectations. The trip to Tlaxcala was the highlight of my stay in the area. We spent considerable time viewing the murals by Disiderio Hernandez Xochitiotzin with Carlor giving a thorough history of the murals. You won't be disappointed with Carlos as your guide.

My mother and I visited Puebla in April 2021. Although the City was partially under lockdown due to Covid, Carlos was able to put together a wonderful tour for us. The moment I reached out to Carlos, a week or so before our trip, he was very pleasant and professional. He immediately understood our expectations. Carlos picked us up at our hotel as agreed and took us to see some of Puebla’s incredible treasures. He punctuated our tour with historical facts, personal experiences and trivia which made our time with Carlos very fulfilling. We even stopped for some delicious local sweets! Carlos loves his city and takes great pride in sharing all its attributes with visitors. I highly recommend Carlos’ services to anyone looking for a customized experience in Puebla. What a gem!

Carlos was amazing. He was willing to speak Spanish slowly for us, as we are learning. He took us to Atlixco Puebla in Mexico. One of the most important things to us was finding a very local family owned Mezcaleria and Fábrica. He found the perfect family and we got to spend time with the Mezcalero and learn the entire process. He also took us to some area with murals that told a story. Our last adventure was to the street with all the nurseries. We went to a large one, that he recommended and it was like a colorful paradise. The entire trip he taught us and pointed out many things from Puebla to Atlixco. We highly recommend Carlos and will contact him again on our next visit!
