I had a fun time going with my family. It’s a great place to go if your in town is worth the money for sure and even more if you love animals. Just make sure to check the whether and be aware that it can be 2 -3 hour long other than that have fun!

The bird show was just spectacular and worth the price of admission, much more than I was expecting!
We enjoyed the safari drive and were surprised by the variety and proximity of the animals.
The rest of the zoo experience was excellent with help from the friendly staff.
Unfortunately our tip driver babbled on in Spanish and refused to answer Spanish questions with simple language. Often the other Spanish speaking customers were answering questions. If tip wants to provide for international travelers they should improve language ability .

We had an amazing experience at Africam Safari! Highly recommended.
We did a special experience / experience exclusiva to see the Rhino and it was a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide Mario really made it special, telling us about the rhino and teaching us how to safely pet him and feed him.
There are so many animals to see even without paying extra for a special experience. We particularly enjoyed a cuddle from a kangaroo. Just be careful, they do not want to stop cuddling!

This place was absolutely beautiful! Seeing the animals in their own habitat is unfortunately not something you always experience.
After we went in with our car, we found the safari cars so we went back out again to get it! It was very much worth it! It's called open air exclusive experience, with a guide. Luckily, they took some time to find us someone who speaks English and they found Liz. She is extremely friendly and funny. She explained every tiny detail, she also told us the stories of each species - how they found them, how they were transported, how they were born and their families' stories! She also constantly asked if we're comfortable or need to use the restrooms, and took PERFECT pictures of us in a Lion King spot and with the lions!😊
When they told us there's no guide that speaks English we thought to ourselves that's fine we know the animals and how they look but we were absolutely wrong😁
Honestly, the experience wouldn't have been the same if it wasn't for her.

I was really excited to see this place, having never been to a safari park before. I had LOVED the sound of it - it sounded huge, like the animals had so much space to roam in natural habitats, with other animals. The reality of it is, it is a drive-thru zoo, and not a good one either. There are a few different climates themed, but they were missing much-needed vegetation. They were only 1 or 2 or 3 of each different type of large african animal, not nearly enough for social herd animals to live happily or behave naturally. There were few or no small animals, which are just as important to ecosystems, and just as interesting. Information about the animals was limited to "African Elephant", "Zebra", "Giraffe". Nothing about their native range size, migration habits, behaviours. All the animals looked SO SAD! I felt horrible knowing I had given money to a business which was clearly neglecting and exploiting these poor creatures!
Please, please don't come here, and don't bring children here. If you want a good zoo experience, I highly recommend Belize Zoo. I also recommend snorkelling tours in Belize and Playa del Carmen, for up-close contact with animals.
I went in 2010.

When first arriving, I was shocked to see how expensive it is: MXN 232 per adult and MXN 225 per child!
However, it was well worth it. We went there on a Tuesday morning and the circuit was basically empty. There were maybe five other cars doing the round. We saw the most important animals you would see on a safari: lions, rhinos, elephants (although Asian and not African), water buffalos. But also giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, tigers, bears, and much, much more.
The most amazing thing was how close to the animals we got, something you cannot get in a zoo. At one point we were face to face with a rhinoceros which was a bit intimidating, but a caretaker walked this huge animal out of the road and we continued our amazing adventure.
I found the park to be extremely well kept, the scenery breathtaking, and the animals to be very well taken care of. They are not in caged and just roam around the property in their own section. The tigers were in a smaller space but had plenty of place to move around. Nearly all animals are in groups.
After the "drive-thru" you can park the car and explore more in a zoo type setting. The kids had a lot of fun with the kangaroos. There is just so much to do and you should plan at least 3-4 hours if you include a lunch break.
We ate at the Kilimanjaro café for lunch. Food was average, portions were rather on the small side but pricing was okay, they even have Wi-Fi. There are public bathrooms throughout the property and these are pretty clean.
Visiting during the week meant that there were barely people on the circuit but also that some attractions or snack bars were closed. However, these attractions were not animal related but rather items like toboggans and the like (which were also at additional cost) so not a big deal.
If was a fantastic experience for the kids (9 and 11) who liked this outing the best. We have been in the Mexico City/Puebla region for 10 days and Africam Safari was their favorite thing to do followed by the pyramids of Teotihuacan, the city of Puebla, the site of Cholula, and finally the town of Tecali with their onyx and marble shops.
So even if Africam Safari is not the first thing that comes to mind when visiting Mexican heritage and this amazing region, it is a good change for young children who might appreciate a break from ancient ruins and old churches regardless of how much they are in awe of this culture.

AS a 35 year zoo professional, I have seen most of what North America's zoological parks have to offer. I recently visited Africam Safari while lecturing in Mexico. It is a marvelous facility. The animals healthy and comfortable, nice exhibits, lots of educational opportunities and the show in the amphitheater was beyond compare. The entire facility was clean and well kept and a sense of self pride was evident in everyone I met. I look forward to returning again soon.

The Africam Safari is a great way to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, lions, and many other animals in natural habitat. In addition to the drive-through feature, they also have a walk-through section where you can see the tamer animals even closer. My kids especially enjoyed the bird house where colorful birds will land on your hands, shoulders, or head. Of course they have several gift shops and the prices are quite reasonable (for example, I got a nice t-shirt for 149 mxn where a similar t-shirt at Six Flags might cost 500 or more. However, I can NOT recommend the tour by Estrella Roja. We booked it for the convenience of departing from and returning from the Zocalo but the vans were totally unsuitable for a tour of this sort. Over half of the seats (those in the rear) were elevated, yet the windows were low, forcing one to bend over in order to see out the window. I was lucky and got to ride shotgun but I felt bad for the other passengers (not bad enough to offer to change seats, but still, I felt bad). So DO plan a visit to the Africam Safari but do NOT book with Estrella Roja.
