Livit Immersion Center is an amazing language school run by a loving, generous family full of natural teachers. I highly recommend spending a few weeks immersing yourself in their classes and excursions in the beautiful city of Puebla. Whether your a beginner or an advanced speaker, you're bound to improve your comprehension and have a marvelous time in the process at Livit!

From the end of last September through the beginning of November I spent 7 weeks in beautiful Puebla, where I attended the Livit Center. This was the best language learning experience I have ever had and I have had many in my 74 years. The program was small group instruction for 4 hours Monday thru Friday. Class is followed by a great alfresco lunch before meeting your tutor for a two hour Spanish practice session every Mon. Tue and Wed.. On Thursday afternoons Scott (the owner) took everyone on day trip excursions through the beautiful countryside visiting other towns, archeological sites and other places of cultural interest. Scott is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining.
The center has housing options available, but I chose to stay in an AirBNB near the zocalo about a fifteen minute walk from school. People who did stay there seemed to really like it. Puebla is a fabulous city and I never tired of walking around finding new things to do and practice my Spanish with locals. I was out and about at all times of the day and night and always felt perfectly safe. The people of Puebla were both friendly and helpful.
In addition to learning tons of new Spanish, my instructor (Maru) really helped me focus on undoing many of the bad habits I had developed through the years. My friends back home were amazed at how much my Spanish and my fluency had improved. I absolutely loved this whole adventure and recommend it highly. Y&our search is over. This IS the real deal.

It was a very enjoyable and productive experience for two weeks.I arrived alone at the last minute after a friend had to cancel the trip and was given a very warm welcome. Friends were easily made with other students, the class room instruction was very personalized, the Thursday field trips were enjoyable as was the weekend trip I was able to take with the help from maru. Learning basically consists of morning classes and an afternoon spent with a guide visiting different places on the city while speaking Spanish and homework at night. I honestly cannot think of a single change I would recommend to the structure of the program and would highly recommend both the school as well as the town of Puebla to visit.

Livit was a unique educational experience! The framework is one where you become part of a community. I felt as though I was on a trip and not immersed in a Spanish language class. You had classroom time in a small group setting but also a provided luncheon featuring local ingredients in traditional regional cuisine. Then, you spend two hours with your own local guide exploring both Puebla and the language. Still want more? Thursday afternoons were field trip days exploring areas and regions in and around Puebla. Truly an inviting educational experience!
A family affair for sure and they are most welcoming. They couldn’t do enough for you whether you were struggling with the language, requiring medical care, learning more about the culture and area, or simply wanting to explore on your own. Everyday was wonderful and the weather mad it seem like you were on vacation.
Thank you Livit!,,

I cannot recommend Livit enough. I am not sure whether it is because it is a family affair and they make you feel like you are a part of the family, or because it presents the ideal opportunity to immerse yourself in Mexican culture and become fluent in Spanish at the same time. Either way, I promise that you are in the best of hands. Side note: Momma's cooking is truly sensational.

I just finished a month at LIVIT, I had a great time. Stayed with a family and had a very immersive experience. The education is great but what sets this program apart is the owners willingness to go above expectations constantly. From weekly field trips to interesting places one would not normally see while traveling, delicious home cooked meals, weekly visits to local restaurants and general camaraderie at the school. Highly recommend!

Highly, highly recommended. First-class language instruction in small group classes with lots of individual attention. Weekly cultural excursions and afternoon, one on one conversation with local student guides are a great supplement to classroom teaching, and offer a fun opportunity to learn more about Mexican history and cultural. Puebla is an interesting city in its own right. And the school, which directors Scott and Maru operate from their home, is a warm, friendly, and welcoming setting for a learning experience. Maru's Mom cooks lunch for the students several days a week, and you'll be hard pressed to find a tastier meal in Mexico. I spent a month there and would love to go back.

Incredible experience. 4 hours of classroom work plus 2 hours of conversation with guides in the community. You will work hard and your Spanish will improve. Everything well organized and professional. Covid protocols are excellent. Home cooked lunch is included. The hosts feel like family by the end. If possible, stay in one of their apartments. Also, Puebla is a great choice: safe, friendly and lots do.

After four weeks of studying here, I'm totally enjoying learning this wonderful language, as well as exploring this incredibly neat city. In fact, before I left here, I signed up to return--convinced that this was The place that could teach me the most Spanish in the least amount of time.
To give you something of an overview: as other reviewers have said, at Livit, you get four solid hours of instruction each morning. My instructor was incredibly high-energy, creative and fun (as well as funny). But truly--non-stop. Buckle your seatbelt, please.
Around 1 or so, a wonderful meal is served 3 days a week "family style" with all of the students together (this is a small school, btw) during which, Spanish is spoken (or, as in my case, attempted to be spoken). Also on three days a week you are given a guia, who will guide you around the city while you practice your Spanish skills with them. The guiás generally fit the following profile: young, neat, smart college students--most of whom have lived in Puebla for a long time, if not their entire life. Each guiá who worked with me was upbeat and supportive and really a lot of fun.
This set up is truly perfect...just when your brain is telling you it's maxed out after four solid hours of instruction, along comes this friendly new face, happy to go where you'd like to go--happy to talk about with you about what you'd like to talk about--so long as it's in Spanish. So a wonderful way to switch gears all the while staying in español mode. (And on Thursdays, the school takes you on an extensive excursion, typically to some place a bit of a drive away from the school and designed to show you yet another side of this amazing part of the world.)
In terms of living situations, I spent my first week staying in one of the apartments there at the school which was a perfect way for me to transition into my new and foreign situation. For the next three weeks, I lived with a local family--and truly, if someone called down to Central Casting with a request for the two sweetest and most supportive people on the planet to be cast as the home parents, they would've been delighted with these two. I know I was.
Finally, a bit about Puebla itself. First, I'm a single woman and felt completely safe the entire time I was there. Second, the school is located in the historic center of the town--and there's something truly interesting (if not fascinating) on every street corner. I loved how rich in history the entire area was. Third, the location of the school is within each walking distance of the town square, where restaurants, food vendors, shops and all manner of life is kicking back and having a great time virtually all of the time.
While I can't compare my experience with other language schools in that this is my one and only exposure, please know I really can't say enough good things about this school, about this city, or about the wonderfully loving and intelligent people I met while there.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I promise to answer them to the very best of my ability. ¡Y buena suerte!

I joined my cousin for a week of Spanish immersion with some hesitation -- I wasn't sure I was capable of "sitting" in a classroom learning Spanish. But it was such a positive experience that I signed on for another week and enjoyed every minute of it.
The program was well designed. They built lots of variety into the morning classes. After lunch (delicious Mexican meals) we each had our own guide -- interesting and helpful university students who couldn't speak English -- who talked with us as we enjoyed beautiful Puebla. Once a week we took a field trip to a fascinating town, where we learned about the area (in Spanish, of course).
By the time I left, my Spanish had improved and I had fallen in love with Puebla and LIVIT.

I will be attending LIVIT school in early March and plan to spend 2 nights in Mexico City first. Any recommendations for smaller (affordable) hotels, inns or B&Bs that are centrally located would be appreciated. Condesa is one area that Scott at LIVIT has suggested.
