Wonderful Program
Feb 2020
I just finished a month at LIVIT, I had a great time. Stayed with a family and had a very immersive experience. The education is great but what sets this program apart is the owners willingness to go above expectations constantly. From weekly field trips to interesting places one would not normally see while traveling, delicious home cooked meals, weekly visits to local restaurants and general camaraderie at the school. Highly recommend!

Excellent Spanish immersion program
Feb 2020 • Solo
It was a very enjoyable and productive experience for two weeks.I arrived alone at the last minute after a friend had to cancel the trip and was given a very warm welcome. Friends were easily made with other students, the class room instruction was very personalized, the Thursday field trips were enjoyable as was the weekend trip I was able to take with the help from maru. Learning basically consists of morning classes and an afternoon spent with a guide visiting different places on the city while speaking Spanish and homework at night. I honestly cannot think of a single change I would recommend to the structure of the program and would highly recommend both the school as well as the town of Puebla to visit.

Great program, experience and city
Jun 2019 • Solo
I spent 3 weeks at Livit. Great experience. High quality instruction by owners who care about the product. They were able to provide each student a level that suited their needs, Warm and intimate environment. Puebla is a great under-rated Mexican city with great food, activities and a good place for walking. I give Livit the highest recommendation and endorsement.

A magical two weeks at LIVIT
Jan 2019 • Solo
I joined my cousin for a week of Spanish immersion with some hesitation -- I wasn't sure I was capable of "sitting" in a classroom learning Spanish. But it was such a positive experience that I signed on for another week and enjoyed every minute of it.

The program was well designed. They built lots of variety into the morning classes. After lunch (delicious Mexican meals) we each had our own guide -- interesting and helpful university students who couldn't speak English -- who talked with us as we enjoyed beautiful Puebla. Once a week we took a field trip to a fascinating town, where we learned about the area (in Spanish, of course).

By the time I left, my Spanish had improved and I had fallen in love with Puebla and LIVIT.

I attended Livit for about three weeks and I was thoroughly impressed by every aspect of it. The program is very well structured, with small classes geared towards individual student needs (I was the only student in my class for a while). My teacher, Luis, was excellent and used a lot of well-thought-out and creative exercises (some that were standard at Livit) and helped me immensely with both conversational skills and more technical grammar. I went from fumbling around when I arrived to being able to carry on a conversation very quickly. I heard similar comments from students in other classes. The afternoon sessions on M-W with the very knowledgeable local guides (mostly former university students who studied history) were a great way to practice Spanish while seeing the historical and cultural highlights of Puebla, and the Thursday excursions let us see some sights outside the city and get to know the other students. Aside from that, the atmosphere is really conducive to learning. The school and classrooms are pleasant and comfortable, and the daily group lunches were a great way to unwind after class (especially in nice weather when we ate our home-cooked meals outside) and practice Spanish in a relaxed setting before afternoon activities. The owners, Scott and Maru, are patient and excellent teachers, and they and their family couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. They were always available for questions about every aspect of being a visitor in Puebla, which is a beautiful, fascinating city with a rich history and should be at the top of everyone's list of places to visit.

Excellent immersion experience
Dec 2017 • Solo
After a great two weeks at Livit, I returned for another round of classes. The program is planned for maximum learning as well as experiencing Puebla and Mexican culture. Maru and Scott are welcoming hosts and the teachers are top notch. The afternoon one-on-one outings with a guide offer a good opportunity to practice what you've learning in class. Students at all levels, from beginner to more advanced, are taught with respect and ability appropriate lessons. Puebla is a beautiful colonial city and the food is amazing (as are the lunches at school). Everything about my experience was all I hoped for and I will undoubtedly return.

Best school for Spanish
Apr 2018 • Solo
I chose Livit for a 2 week Spanish immersion experience in April /2018. This was an excellent experience and I highly recommend it! I previously did an immersion experience in Mexico City - this was far better. The school is small and intimate and feels more like a home (which it is also). The class rooms are bright and airy and the common spaces and outside garden wonderful. Home prepared lunches are authentic and tasty. The teachers are enthusiastic and personalize the experience. The 2 I worked with were excellent. The classes were small with 2-3 students.
I really liked the structure - it is experiential learning. A game to start out with, a couple hours of grammar, conversation, and a group lunch with all the staff. In the afternoon a university student would accompany each student on a walk to a museum, market or whatever with more conversation. One day each week the group would go on an excursion to a more distant historical site.
Puebla is a great city - a smaller, much more relaxed feel compared to Mexico City. Much historic architecture, etc. Great for photography - my interest. The city center was a pleasant / easy walk from Livit.
The home stay also was an excellent experience. Livit has a few families to connect with within walking distance. The evening meal was another time to practice conversation. My host was very helpful in planning my free time. (She also was a great... and patient teacher - of course all in Spanish)
Highly recommended for all levels!

(Also they have an apartment for rent on site - I stayed there one night, and it is hotel standard with kitchenette - but the home stay is optimal for the educational experience)

Don't miss a visit to the Baroque Museum -

Great immersion experience
Oct 2017 • Solo
This is already the 3rd time I'm attending the Livit immersion program. The school provides the best conditions for quick learning progress with 24/7 immersion: intensive classes with competent, energetic and fun teachers; afternoon conversation with local college student buddies (you can go together explore the city, play board game in a cafe, or whatever you feel like); and sharing the life of your host family.. obviously all 100% in Spanish. From day 1.
Besides the language aspect, the program is just fun: from the fun classes, to the great atmosphere in the school, to the weekly cultural trips, to the owners, Scott and his wife, and the teachers who really make you feel welcome and great the entire time. And Puebla is a beautiful, full of culture and history, colonial city,
And last but not least, Scott's insatiable passion for the local culture, history and language is really infectious!
I personally don't have to learn Spanish for a particular, e.g. professional, reason. But for me, the Livit program is just a great vacation with the perfect combination of learning, cultural, and fun.
If you take this program, you with not regret it!

Learning Spanish
Sep 2017
Livit is located in Puebla, a very pretty city 2 hours east of Mexico City.
The owners are very nice, and I was sent detailed instructions before my arrival about how to catch the bus from Mexico City, which I appreciated. They met me at the bus station, and took me to my host family, which was an adorable couple who live near the school.
The Spanish instruction was thorough, and the teachers were very good. My fellow students were a nice group of people....most were improving their Spanish for their jobs in the USA.
Tasty lunches were provided during the school week, and I ate breakfast and dinner with my family. I particularly liked the part of the day when we got to wander in the afternoon with our own (college student) guide.

This is a great school. The owners Scott and his wife are fun and friendly. They go out of their way to help you and to make you feel comfortable. They served delicious homemade authentic Mexican lunches every day except when we went out to eat. We ate on a beautiful sunny deck while chatting in Spanish. It was a truly lovely experience.
I hadn't spoken Spanish in 30 years before the trip. By the end of my two weeks there I was thinking in Spanish.
We took fun trips as a group and we really got in to the heritage and history of Puebla. My host family was kind and loving. Puebla is safe. I felt confident walking the streets alone at night. There is great nightlife and good food in Puebla.
