This cathedral is an emblematic place, you may have to take your time looking at, all of the details make this place an import part of the Baroque time on Mexico, you totally need to go there to feel the magic and don't forget to past by at night time the city lights make this place look like gold.

Outside the building is a wonderful example of colonial architecture. I didn't like the modern interior. It is modern and I might have liked somewhere else, but nor after looking at the outside. It is a matter of taste, but I did not see the reason for the cahnge.

Marvellously fluid stonework outside. Absolutely gorgeous, As usual, the .interior is much plainer, but well worth a visit

I think this is my favourite building in Zacatecas.
I am an architecture lover and enjoy taking photos of buildings.
Everytime I go past the cathedral I take another photo.
The inside is nice but I'm more fascinated with the outside because of it's many details on the facade.

It's better to go to Mexico, or other cities in South America, likr Peru or Ecuador if you want to ser architecture of 3-4 centuries ago than Spain. Those convrnyos with the pan de oro are a delight

Zacatecas is a city with many attractions any time of the year. However, visiting during the Christmas, end of year and "Reyes" holyday season was a fantastic surprise. The center of the city, main square with a Xmas village and a giant Ferris Wheel are complemented with colorful and creative decorations in each of the alleys that connect main st with other streets. The town fully dress for the season, along with many guided tours of history and legends.
the city center, with many wonderfull buildings and museums is a great walking tour (bring good waking shoes) and when needed, a cab goes for an average of 2 USD or less.
Great restaurants that offer marvelous local cuisine. For sure one to try is the "Asado de Boda". A spicy and delicious dish. will review our hotel and restaurants and other sites individually

Especially the outside of the building is fascinating, I couldn't get enough from looking up to all that beautiful stonework. The modern altar is unusual and impressive.

I love visiting Cathedrals all over the world, something about the history if when it once built and how much it was worked on takes my breath away!
This gem is located in the middle of the city, marvelous arcatecture carving with pink stones from the putside, and breath taking inside. The locals say it was re done at the altar with a Gold plated background, it is free entrance. This Cathedral was blessed by Pope John Paul II!
*A tip: you must see this standing 18 century arcatecture at night, it is stunning!!!!
