As a construction worker I really felt at home here, there’s dust everywhere, no real road, everything is made of crappy concrete and things just weren’t finished or weren’t constructed right. The rooms look good and the beds are comfy also the shower is nice....More

Mae Haad Beach wouldn’t be anything special - in our opinion - if it weren’t for Koh Ma. Koh Ma is an island that, well, you can walk to, believe it or not. And that’s what makes Mae Haad Beach so special. It is a...More

I'm a Brazilian, experienced to see nice beaches. I visited Koh Phangan and Mae Haad Beach, and it simply the best beach I ever saw... Beautiful, with an island which creates two different beaches in the way to the Island... A great place!

Haven’t been to many beaches on koh Pha-ngan but this is one of the three beaches that I did visit and I am happy I chose to come here. Had a good couple of hours on the beach. The way to get there was comfortable...More

Great beach with everything you need nearby. You had the beach, restaurants, activities and scooter rental among other things nearby. The restaurant manager Parn was also great. He treated me and all the guests so good. We was social and had food sense of humour....More

Scenery-wise this is a stunningly beautiful beach with a narrow sandspit leading to a small island. There are a couple of hotels - I saw one upmarket one when we arrived at the sandspit, but we parked and walked through an older style bungalow (Mae...More

A very beautiful beach with lovely water. Ideally wear reef shoes here. Made for an amazing sunset swim here.

More glass on beach than I've seen anywhere else, some very sharp. Rocks were quite sharp, even with water shoes. Took our 3 kids here and would not recommend for children. Food was decent for lunch though.

The beach is not the best one we've seen in phangang. There are so many other places to go. Haad rin, haad Yao is much more attractive to see and chill out

I will be travelling with a friend to Mae Haad Beach, Koh Phangan in the beginning of January 2008. Do I need to book accomodation in advance? Looking forward to your answers Chris

I suggest booking in advance. That is the tail end of the holiday season. On a trip to Hua Hin, my wife's sister and friend had made the plans and did not prebook, and we ended up spending the first night at a highway motel. If you use an internet consolidatoryou will probably do as well or better on the rate than just showing up, but nothing is guaranteed.

Any drawback in staying on Ko Tao compared to Ko Samui? (5 Replies)
Hello, I am trying to decide whether I should stay in Ko Samui and take a day trip to Ko Tao for snorkelling or just head straight to Ko Tao and stay there for snorkelling/diving and enjoy the beach. My husband and I are traveling in mid May and plan to stay for 4 nights, but it will be more like 3 days on the island with our itinerary. I have found a place to stay on Silver Beach/Crystal Bay in Ko Samui and on the south end of Mae Haad Beach on Ko Tao. We are into enjoying beautiful...More

Road conditions are a moot issue unless you have a motorbike license from your home country and are an experienced driver. Thai scooters are legally motorbikes and also Samui is not the place where to learn to drive. If scuba diving is going to be your only activity then Ko Tao would be the place. Ko Tao is a bit too far for tours to the Ang Thong Marine National Park which is a great place for snorkeling and kayaking in sea caves and mangrove forests. From Samui tours are very feasible...More

Mae Haad Beach & Ko Ma (10 Replies)
Hello. In August, we a family of three with an 11 year old will be staying in Thong Nai pan Noi for four nights. This is our first visit to Koh Pha Ngan, so we thought we would like a day out from the hotel for at least one day (even if it's for a few hours). I quite like the look (from google images) of the Mae Haad Beach and the walk over to Ko Ma. I wouldn't be interested in driving myself so what are the options. Could I get a boat from Thong Nai Pan Noi round to to Mae Haad or is the...More

Ah! my two favorite spots on KP! Doing by long tail boat, would be an interesting way to do that. You'll just need to ask the long tail boat people in TNP. or ask your resort if they can recommend, I am sure there would be several, that do this all the time, although perhaps just to Chaloklum, but Mae Haad is not much further. Negotiate the price first. There are a number of beaches along the way that might be worth a stop. Bottle beach is one, Chaloklum village is OK too, As for...More
