My accommodations, Holiday Inn Resort, was located along this beach. I walked the beach everyday while staying in San Jose del Cabo, as it is a nice beach without that many people around. There isn’t much swimming going on here, however there were a few brave locals surfing and some guests that were in knee to waist deep at times. I really enjoyed how large and loud the waves are, something that I still miss about this place.

We stayed at the Hotel Posada Real right on the beach, and we enjoyed walking on Playa Hotelera at least once a day, sometimes at sunrise, and sometimes at sunset. It is a beautiful, clean, uncrowded beach, stretching all the way from the marina at San Jose del Cabo to Zipper's Restaurant. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to walk the entire beach. We enjoyed seeing whales, dolphins, and pelicans on our daily walks. We also enjoyed exchanging greetings with other visitors from many other part of the world.

So many hotels are facing this long beach but so few people were actually out on it. Pretty much none of this area is safe for swimming due to the strong undertows. When the tide was coming in the waves were huge and very loud crashing onto the sand. All along the beach, black flags were up the entire week we were there even at low tides.

The sand is hot in the sun, coarse for walking except by the water. But, even then we were told to take care in getting close to the water's edge when the tide was out. It's beautiful to look at and do some walking along side it.

While staying on the beach in San Jose del Cabo, my husband and I took long, daily walks on the Playa Hotelera. Some days we walked down to the Estuary, and on other days we walked in the other direction, toward Zipper's restaurant. This year we saw whales spouting, dozens of pelicans skimming the water and flying in formation, and two baby sea turtles in the shallow water. They were apparently among the last of the hundreds of turtles that were protected in the turtle sanctuary, hatched, and released in December. The beach is very long, clean, and uncrowded, with very few vendors compared to the mobs at the beaches in Cabo San Lucas.

Although swimming is very limited due to the strong undertow, our family enjoyed splashing in the water. There were often people in swimming beyond the first two crashing waves. We enjoyed walking on the hard packed sand and the kids played well in the soft sand. Bring a beach umbrella and enjoy.

I have been coming to this beach for over 10 years. Always a great experience and we usually walk twice daily. My suggestion is to check the tide schedule and always plan on walking at low tide. If you don't you will walk crooked for the rest of your life! When the tide is low the beach is like a sidewalk... super easy on the body... but when it is high your hamstrings suffer! Also- storms in 2017 washed out the estuary so it is tough to navigate around that now- hopefully Mother Nature will repair that over time.

Not much to do at beach - waves too dangerous for swimming, no paddleboarding, massages, restaurants, beach chairs for rent. It's nice for a long walk, but few access points due to all the hotels.

Our resort (as well as most resorts in San Jose) was by this beach!

It was very nice and the view to the beach from our room was amazing, but the fact that it is not swimmable kind of ruins it (in my opinion!)

This definitely a beautiful beach, very wide, open, nice white sand, very walkable in both directions if you are staying in the hotel zone. You can see the occasional sea lion or dolphin swimming off shore. Very blue water. This is NOT a swimming beach. In some areas of this beach you can play in some of the shallow surf but be careful, the waves can take you away in an instant!

Due to the undertow and the waves this beach is not safe for swimming. However it is lovely to walk on. The layres of mica in the water make look like there is sparkle dust in the waves and on the wet sand. Also it makes an ever changing pattern of lines on the sand from the mica being deposited at the crest of the wave. You can see both amazing sunrises over the Sea of Cortez and sunsets over the mountains.
