Gordo Banks Pangas is located in the fishing village of La Playa, resting on the eastern edge of a coastal lagoon at the mouth of the Rio San Jose and now situated in the newly developed world class Puerto Los Cabos Marina. La Playita is just minutes away from historic San Jose del Cabo. Only 10 miles from the airport and 21 miles from the center of Cabo San Lucas. Our fleet’s launching area is only 10 miles from the Gordo Banks! Eric Brictson, the founding charter representative, settled in San Jose del Cabo in 1985. Prior to moving to the Cape, Eric spent many years fishing off coastal California and Oregon. With his passing, his son Brian is continuing his legacy & quality customer care. Brian is an English speaking American and he oversees virtually every aspect of the operation. Unequaled quality and personalized service are the standards that Brian and the staff of Gordo Banks Pangas offer to anglers of all experience levels! We are located behind the El Ganzo Hotel.

My friends , family and I have fished with Eric's service for 7 years on formal fishing trips and relaxing vacations . Eric is informative and humorous . His stories and knowledge of the fishery and area are epic!
I have fished with many of his guides and have respect for all.
Tony and Jesus ( Beto ) in particular are AMAZING and have consistently provided us with high quality skills and effort .
The boats are well maintained and the captain's safe .
Tony is often first boat out of the marina and first to obtain the RIGHT bait so be early and be ready !
I only fish top water and I mostly defer to the area and species that the captain thinks the best chance of success . Use their knowledge .
They communicate with the other boats and work as a team .
Tony and Jesus are both very good at getting us opportunities with our fly rods , which we use exclusively and with different methods . Trolling , swimming small live bait , casting flies and bait and switch tactics have all been successful . I have fished a lot of places and this is by far my favorite operation !!!!
Always remember that respect is a two way street , give it and you will receive it .

Once again we had an awesome week of fishing with Gordo Banks Pangas!! We fished with both brothers Chame and Jesus and scored many big bull Dorado and a wahoo!
We have been fishing with Gordo Banks Pangas for about 20 years and have always had excellent captains that put us on the fish and accommodated everyone on the boat regardless of experience. Brian Brictson has taken over the reigns of his late great father Eric in organizing the trips, boats and captains and making sure all clients are totally accommodated. He not only organizes all of the charters and makes sure fishermen are informed on what to bring and where to go but is also there to greet you in the morning and make sure your good to go with your boat and captains but also there when you get in to help with your gear, take pictures of you and your fish and see you off. It's a first class operation!!

Awesome boats and captain’s at a very fair price. Book online and put deposit down via PayPal and then paid cash the morning of. We did a 30 foot cabin cruise for a full day of fishing for $450.
Tony our captain was great and all other boats caught two fish. We brought in 12 huge Red Snappers and Bonita.
This is a bar charter but they supply all the ice and a cooler. So need to bring all your own drinks, food, beers, etc. so very economical.
Note there are no markets around to buy from early morning so get the night before. Fishing licenses sold onsite at docks for $15 a day for tourists. Also little stands with coffee and breakfast burritos and Fortas for cheap.
Guys at dock will clean all your fish for just tip, suggest $2 to $3 per fish. Alberto will take your fillets to vacuum seal and freeze so you can fly home in your cooler. He will deliver to or meet you the next day. (Tip: check an empty cooler down and put a small roll of duct tape in your checked bag, upon returning you can seal up your cooler after checking it in at airport counter. Most hotels will store your cooler in their walk-in freezer.)
Bring $30 to buy bait and tip for your crew between 15 to 20%.

awful captain, guy spent more time on the radio chatting with people thinking we knew no spanish. Struggled to catch fish all day which is not always the captains fault but when he drives away from multiple boats catching you start to question what is this guy doing. Also for a 6 hour charter of 3 guys he brought 6 jugs which were rusted and salt damaged. The captain offered no explanations to anything he was doing rhyme or reason wise. Waste of money, your better off renting a kayak and fishing a hundred yards of the beach.

We chose the "Reel Salty" charter with Gordo Banks Pangas, and the booking process was seamless with transparent pricing. Prior to our trip, communication was excellent, ensuring we knew what to expect upon arrival. However, once aboard, there were some language barriers as the crew primarily spoke Spanish, leaving us feeling slightly confused at times. We would have appreciated clearer instructions and explanations about the the day and fishing techniques. Despite this, we still had an enjoyable experience! The crew skillfully guided us to promising fishing spots, ensuring a successful outing. Upon returning to the dock, we were promptly assisted with photo opportunities and fish processing, a well-organized conclusion to our adventure. Overall, I recommend Gordo Banks Pangas, and despite the language barrier, I look forward to booking with them again in the future!

This is my second time fishing with Gordo Banks, and I don’t think I’ll ever go elsewhere. I love the two captains I’ve had, and always had a great time. Tony drove hard to the fishing grounds, got us on the fish, had me and my buddy going with 4 yellowfin at once, and we never looked back. My experience fishing San Jose Del Cabo has been so much more fun than out of Cabo San Lucas, and I credit it to these guys. Brian will greet you with a smile on his face at 5:50am and send you on your way to have fun. Would recommend these guys a hundred times over. Thanks for the stellar times Brian and Tony!

We left early morning and got to watch the sun come up while on the water heading to our fishing spot.
Once we got there chewy our captain was quick to get lines in the water and right away my wife and I both had yellow fin tuna on and was reeling them in.
This was a very memorable and relaxing trip. Thanks guys

What a great experience! The new marina in San Jose is so convenient, easy to access boats. I'm use to the old style pangas, what an improvement, these are much faster, cleaner, & comfortable.
We were blessed with a calm day on the ocean, this made spotting the boiling tuna easy. We caught 4 tunas that were well over 50lbs each, such a blast chumming & fishing with live bait.
BUT the reel highlight of our trip.....our captain spotted a whale shark cruising below the surface and he let me jump and swim along side....this had always been a bucket list item for me, just amazing!

Fishing with Gordo Banks Pangas is affordable, and they make it easy. Brian responded to all of our email questions and met us at the dock to introduce us to the boat captain and get us on our way. The captain was an outstanding fisherman who put us on a variety of fish and even saw lots of whales. Highly recommend!

Highly recommended! Easiest and straight forward fishing expeditions in San Jose del Cabo. Great English communication and set prices. You know what you’re getting and they deliver. Brian and Monica take care of you in the morning and when you return at the docks. You never feel lost or unsure what is going on.
I’ve been fishing with them for almost 30 years and always had a positive experience. Brian and Monica were delightful to deal with. They responded quickly to email and they were there in the morning at the docks, making sure we got everything situated with the license, food/snacks, and our captain. They also met us afterwards to guide us on fishing cleaning and tip amount.
Feel confident booking with them. They will take care of you.

It is in the panga harbor outside San Jose Del Cabo. About 20 minute cab ride from the hotel strip. It is not in La Paz.
