We did a 4 hour program that spends time at the estuary in San Jose then on a boat ride at the arches in Cabo San Lucas. Its worth the price and if you care about birds/conservation at all, you should book one of these trips. I'd suggest going early in your vacation since its a nice intro to the area. I don't have any negative feedback -- the guide was great and we saw lots of great birds.

We found out about Birding Los Cabos from a fellow traveller at our hotel; the local tour operators don't seem to be interested in promoting them, which is a huge shame. The 4-hour tour cost $100 per person, which wasn't bad for a fully-guided trip for just 3 of us. Our very experienced and knowledgeable guide Joanne picked us up around 6:45 and helped us spot several indigenous birds, as well as more common & widespread varieties, both on land, using binoculars and a high-magnification viewing scope, and on an included boat trip down to the rock arch. I believe we saw some 25 species of bird, though I'll have to consult my checklist (which Joanne kindly provided) to be sure, as well as as viewing sea-lions & getting some good views of the rock arch. All in all, a very good trip, and Birding Los Cabos are also doing a lot to help raise awareness of ecological matters in an area under heavy pressure from developers. If you're at all interested in birds and the environment, do check them out.

Joanna arrived on time despite all the security checks at our resort in Cabos. She made the trip informative and fun. The tour was personalized in a way that really impressed. She called and called to attract the Xantu Hummingbird. It is the one endemic variety we did not see. She may have been more disappointed than me. I did add six birds to my life list. I will definitely be back.

Maria Elena was a wonderful tour guide, full of all kinds of information. She educated me about the area in general; and about the birds we were lucky enough to see. She was right on time picking me up at my hotel. My tour group was small so it was like having a private tour. This is definitely a must-do in Cabo, if you love bird watching.

Chose to hire a guide for the first time in our lives, my wife (PhD Ornithologist)and I were very happy we did so. We chose the all day birding adventure, with the goal of seeing as many of the regional species and endemics. The guide was excellent, giving great background to the local birding, culture, and ecosystem. We were driven safely and comfortably around to 6 areas ranging from just north of Cabo San Lucas to La Paz, having great success at many endemic birds along with other overall species diversity. Beyond the birding and culture, the food on the trip was great. Breakfast at the ranchero was delicious and a treat to have honest Baja fare, only matched by the wonderful tacos at lunch. Cannot rate that aspect high enough. Only thing to be aware of, the all day birding trip takes you far afield, so be prepared to spend a decent amount of the day in the car. It was worth it for us to see the Xantu's hummingbird, Gray Thrasher, Road Runners, Yellow Footed Gulls, and the Crested Caracara. If you're looking to spend the day seeing local birds and to learn about the area, this local group is a must. While we did not do them, we also learned this group does local cultural tours and hybrid tours that offer opportunities for those birders traveling with nonbirder family members.
