I wasn't able to find a fishing buddy, so I had the boat (Sol Mar IV) to myself. Captain Mario and mate Manuel were both great, getting us on the fish as well as having some great whale and dolphin watching. A couple hours out, we hooked a striped marlin, about 120 pounds per captain's estimate. Unfortunately, I aggravated a torn biceps tendon when he made his first run, so it took a while to gut through the pain and bring it in. Had to have Manuel take a turn on the rod for a couple minutes while I recovered. Beautiful fish, and Mario got to run the marlin flag on the way back to the harbor.

We had 2 fantastic days of fishing with Chico. We caught a Marlin each day and the crew were very helpful. They knew their stuff.

My wife and I on our first Anniversary and first sport fishing trip, landed a Trophy Striped Marlin and a large Mahi Mahi! We were on the Pantera with Captain Diego and First Mate Sergio. They were great at finding the fish quickly setting up and then maneuvering the boat while we were hooked up on the Marlin. I would definitely recommend!

I had booked a trip with Salvador's Sportfishing Charters and on the El Budster II. However, I had to change my fishing date a few days before and Salvador was able to accommodate my request. Because the El Budster II was already booked, Salvador was able to get me on the Solmar IV boat that was captained by Mario & his deckhand Manuel. Those 2 gentlemen were 5 stars all the way. The professionalism, the enthusiasm and the results made a day of fishing for my husband and his 2 friends a very memorable one. The day started off with a beautiful sunrise and trolling for almost an hour when we doubled up on Dorado (a 20 & 25 pounder) and were put in the cool box. An hour later, after 2 lost attempts for the 3rd in our group to catch a Dorado, a 3rd Dorado was brought to the boat (25 pounds). After each in the group caught a fish we went for Marlin. In about 3 hours time we had 3 hook ups with 2 Marlin (around 50 & 60 pounds) were caught, photo'd and released. We fished with live bait catching another Dorado (25 pounds) and lost several fish to a sea lion. We made one last attempt to catch another Marlin but had no luck. 4 Dorado & 2 Marlin for 3 fishermen ... I'd say that was a successful day fishing. Having Captain Mario & Manual to get us on the fish made the day even better. Thank you both for an amazing trip and adding to an already memorable week!

I tried desperately to think of one good thing to say and I can’t come up with it. I’m glad some folks had a good experience with them but I can’t say the same. From the time we met at the marina they were pretty much helpful and only seemed interested in taking our money. I’ve probably been on 7-8 saltwater fishing trips. Not a whole lot but enough to know generally how it works. It all starts d bad when we were told to go to the market to get drinks if we wanted any during the excursion. Maybe I’ve only had fantastic guides in the past but this is the first time I’ve either had a saltwater, bass or trout guide that provided no beverages. In addition, we stopped on the way out of the port to buy baitfish at our cost from a person who only had five. Things were going decent when we caught a couple of fish on the baitfish but we never fished with the three remaining ones again. It seemed like that was too much work so we went with artificial lures for about two hours. My wife asked if we could try something different or go to a different location and she was told fishing is “for the lucky ones.” We really never saw the captain after leaving the marina except for when he came down to use the head in the main deck. The same can be said for the first mate after we caught the second fish. I really hate to be negative but am only writing this review so more people on vacation in search of some family fun don’t waste their hard earned money on these guys.
