I read about Cabo Treks from another reviewer, and I'm so glad that I did. It was great being able to leave from the marina in San Josè del Cabo instead of Cabo San Lucas since I was staying in the area. Way more convenient, and I think there are more whales in this area. Who could blame them- it's crazy busy over in Cabo San Lucas! SJDC is way more chill. *Right now they only offer this tour once a week on Thursdays. The rest of the time they depart from the CSL marina.

We saw so many humpback whales I lost track, groups of them including a mother and calf. We saw breaches and pec slaps galore, even a spy hop. We also saw a pod of common dolphins and some marlin which was very cool to see. Water was calmer than I thought it would be and the small boat was fairly comfortable- limited to 12 guests. You were able to take turns up front to get a better view but the captain was very good about trying to position the boat so everyone could see.

Katia was very informative and passionate, making for a great morning. Very professional operation.

Afterwards, you can purchase branded merch and pics from your trip from the on-board photographer, who took some amazing shots. The price is a bit steep but considering it goes towards conservation efforts makes it worthwhile.

Thanks for your review! We are glad you had a good tour. Yes Whale Watching out of San Josè del Cabo has been a test season for us this year and it turned out to be surprisingly good! For sure we will offer it again in the upcoming season and eventually offer more days if demand increases! We are surely looking forward to have you on our excursion soon again, check out the other tours we have available, all of them are guided by marine biologist and/or naturalist and with the same quality you've experienced during your trip. Thanks again :-)!!

What a fabulous way to celebrate my 60th birthday! While no whales breached straight up and out of the water, we did see pods, a double tail dive (2 whales simultaneously surfacing and diving...way cool!), and a baby whale learning to breach (really preciousl!). We really appreciated the marine biologist guiding the tour but the number of boats chasing and crowding the whales when blow holes were spotted was a bit much. Luckily our driver took us to other quieter areas but Cabo San Lucas needs to figure out how to better patrol how the smaller glass bottom boats and big party boats approach the whales. My only ding is that the photos taken by the guide (with a great camera vs. my cell phone) was $50 extra and just not worth the cost. I suggest adding some dollars to the upfront cost and then charge $25 at most.

I signed up for the morning whale watching tour that took 2.5 hours.

Katia was the guide on this trip, and she did and excellent job of explaining about the whales and why they are in Cabo.

We did see seven (7) whales on the trip but none breached.

If you bring your camera, make sure you have something to cover it up so it does not get wet.

Finally, you better have your camera ready because once a whale is spotted it will go underwater pretty quickly.

We booked a whale watching tour; since we were a group of 7 we had a private boat. Unfortunately, soon after exiting the harbor, the boat had engine trouble. Rather than continue and risk getting stranded further out, the company got us towed back to the dock and were able to find another boat to conduct the trip. Saw 13 whales; the marine biologist on board was informative and enthusiastic about his job. Since we got a late start, we spent a few extra minutes offshore and got to experience a sundown as well.

Cabo Trek handled what could have been a very poor experience and recovered nicely.

Good choice for this kind of tour.

Went on our first Blue Whale watching experience with Cabo Trek. Initially, we had booked a smaller boat for a more personal experience, however due to the overcast and windy weather, the portmaster had closed the port to small boats. Initially fearing we would lose our experience (as we had scheduled it for our last day in Cabo), Cabo Trek put us with a larger (deep sea fishing) boat, that was able to tackle the weather and waves safely. We were able to go miles into the ocean, away from other boats, and have amazing close-up encounters with multiple blue whales. The tour guides were so knowledgable, answering questions and providing background knowledge. Cabo Trek ensured that despite the weather and setbacks, our trip was saved and we ultimately experienced an amazing encounter. Tip: Bring sweatshirts, and layers. The weather was chilly, the boat is fast, and the waves splash up, soaking everyone. Super fun for everyone, but colder than expected and everyone gets soaked.

I did a lot of research before deciding on a whale watching tour as I wanted to ensure it was ethically operated, with emphasis on education versus joining dozens of other boats as they "chase" the whales to give tourists a bigger bang for their buck. What I got was an incredible experience with a small group of people, no other boats in sight, and more sightings than I could hope for. Well worth it!

Cabo Trek is a well-run, professional operation that gave us an incredible morning of whale watching. Here's the difference with Cabo Trek. First, they knew where to go. Second, and what impressed me the most, they knew which pod of whales would be worth watching. On our trip, they found a few whales right away. We watched for a bit but then they moved on. I was at first surprised we left but they explained the first pod was not worth waiting for. A few minutes later they found another pod which they said would be better to wait and watch. WOW, were they right. We had FOUR WHALES right beside and even under our boat for probable a half hour or more.!! It was outstanding!!! Don't waste your time looking at other operators for whale watching. This is the one you need to contact!!

Hubby and I booked a 2-hour shared snorkel, but we were the only two booked this particular day so we had the adventure all to ourselves! Our guide Manuza and our boat driver Freddy took great care of us! Even on a crowded day at the snorkel spot, Manuza worked hard to guide us to the best fish sightings! She even took pictures and video and sent it to us after the snorkel, which was awesome! She and Freddy also made sure we had the perfect positioning for a great snapshot of the Arch with us in it. You would have thought we had the ocean to ourselves. Freddy handled the boat great despite lots of churning waves at the point. Overall it was awesome and we are especially grateful to Cabo Trek for not canceling the tour or forcing us into a group given that we were the only two booked. That says a lot about their organization and how they care for their customers!

We had a fantastic trip on 2/23 with Cabo Trek. We chose a small local operator and they have a good ecological philosophy and actually abide by the rules. No hounding whales, not getting too close etc. Pack a spray/windproof jacket.

This is a really unique opportunity in the area and this is the company to do it with! Changes in our plan were necessitated by the weather. They handled this well with excellent timely communication and flexibility. The office staff were very responsive and helpful. Once we got on the tour our guide Angelica (a marine biologist) was fantastic. She makes all parts of the trip fun, is very knowledgeable about whale sharks and other marine life, and is an excellent host. We ended up being able to swim along with whale sharks three times during our allotted time, which was more than I expected. This may cost more than some other whale shark tours you may see advertised, but the group size is small, their equipment is excellent and the staff respect the animals and follow the regulations strictly.
