You wouldn't believe how excited my kids were when they heard we were going on a Pirate Ship for a "Treasure Hunt Guided Snorkel & Lunch Pirate Tour." You can't even begin to imagine how disappointed they were when it turned out to be a jump in the water and each lunch tour. The only thing really pirate-themed on this tour was the Pirate Ship and how much they plundered from our pockets. The crew made a halfhearted attempt at a pirate theme with some cheap party city style pirate shirts, but that's about all. Have you ever seen a pirate wearing skinny jeans or board shorts?
Then there was the music. When you boarded the ship, they had some good pirate’ish music playing, but that only served to get all of our hopes up. As soon as we set sail, they had a “DJ” started playing disco music. My kids kept asking me when the pirate stuff and treasure hunt was going to start?
When we finally got to where we are going to go snorkeling, they said, anyone who was in good shape and a strong swimmer that wanted to swim for 50+ mins and see some stuff, raise your hand and come grab some fins. Everyone else can hop in the water next to the boat for a couple of minutes with no fins. Oh yea, and don’t go more than a few feet from the ladder or they start yelling at you. I asked, what about the rest of us who had kids and wanted to see some stuff, they said that wasn’t an option. They at least threw some bread in the water next to the ship to attract fish, but when it comes to the treasure hunt, well… I guess the part where they pass around a small treasure box and ask everyone for tips? My kids were pretty disappointed by this whole thing.
