This was a wonderful experience! It is a full day -- about 3-hour drive each way from Cabo San Lucas to La Paz and back, but you get a look at the whole of Baja and the lovely sea views and chapperal, amazing saquaro cactuses. Miguel was an excellent driver. The marina in La Paz was lovely and tranquil, there is an elegant resort next to it. We met our guide Daniel and our boat captain Christian at the marina; they are with La Paz Expeditions. They took us to the marine sanctuary where the whale sharks are located. It is a protected region and the number of boats is limited at any given time, as well as the number of swimmers in the water with the whale sharks. THIS is a fabulous time to do this trip because of the reduced travel at present. We did not have to wait for entrance to the area and all four of us on the boat could enter the water without restriction. Christian and Daniel sighted the whale sharks numeous times, and we would jump in with snorkel gear and follow Daniel up to one of the enormous, gentle creatures. You do not touch them, but swim at their sides; they are beautiful dark animals with white spottings along their sides, some were over 30 feet long. We were able to enter the water near different ones seven times! A dolphin arced above the water near our boat and we saw a pod of other dolphins in the distance. I am an experinced scuba diver (~200 dives) of Caribbean and Hawaiian sites and THIS snorkel experience (no scuba gear allowed) was in my top three water experiences of all time. The whale sharks are just huge and beautiful and move with grace. Magical. Our boat was immaculate and offered easy entry and exit from the water. After our swimming adventure, we anchored on a pristine beach and they served us a fabulous fresh homemade ceviche (Daniel's own recipe) served on crsip corn toritillas. I highly rcommend this trip if you love snorkling -- it is a bucket list experince for sure! And, NOW is a great time to go because you get lots of time in the water with the animals and no wait time to enter the marine sanctuary. Daniel and Christian with La Paz Expeditions were fabulous. Also, they provide clean, great condition wet suits and snorkel gear if you need them. Just do it!!…

This was super fun - highly recommended experience to the Arch for anyone that wants to get up close and personal with some of Cabo’s best spots. The wildlife around Pelican Rock is great to explore, and the staff/Romel our guide made it a memorable time.
