- Chuck HCincinnati, Ohio6 contributionsGreat place to relaxChilleno Beach is an excellent free public beach. Vendors there rent chairs and umbrellas (2 chairs and 1 umbrella should cost $40-45 usd). Great place to watch the sunrise, and their restroom and shower facilities are new and very clean. Highly recommend if looking for something relaxing to do away from the hustle and bustle of CaboVisited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 26, 2023
- OcasionalTraveler51 contributionsGreat place for snorkeling in shallow water with small kidsPerfect beach for snorkeling in shallow water with young kids. We didn't go far from the shore but many people did and spent tons of time there, so it's probably a good spot for that as well. Bathrooms are relatively clean. The sand is not smooth, it's mostly tiny sharp rocks - the water shoes were very helpful. One night we visited this beach for star gazing and it was AMAZING!Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 29, 2023
- Marilyn FCozumel, Mexico31 contributionsBeautiful Spot!Beautiful beach to spend a few hours relaxing or going in the water. Bring your own food as no food is available on site. Chairs, towels and umbrella is a good idea also. You can rent chairs and an umbrella if needed. There are no vendors and it’s beautiful sand/water.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 10, 2024
- Nicole GParis, France8 contributionsLovely way to enjoy CaboLovely beach for swimming with kids. Showers and bathrooms very clean. Chairs and umbrellas easily available. Lots of locals so it feels less touristy but bring water and snacks as absolutely nothing available thereVisited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 25, 2024
- Monica RCollingwood, Canada18 contributionsMust visit!Incredible! Went in the later afternoon around 4 pm it was plenty but would have returned for another day. Tons of Sun!!! So an umbrella would help if you go during the day. Bring a snorkel and goggles so you can get the full experience of swimming with the fish! Snacks and water help too as the saltwater and energy to swim takes a toll on you.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 24, 2024

The beach is easy to get to. I took the bus that runs every 20 minutes up Hwy 1 from Cabo San Lucas (just a couple of dollars each way). The stops for the bus are also safe and there`s a bridge which makes crossing the highway for the return trip safe.
The beach is a good size and gets lots of visitors. Nice washroom facilities and parking lot if you`re driving. Snorkeled along the right edge and was greatly rewarded. Some of the best snorkeling was out among the offshore rocks just to the right of the swim area marker line. Besides fish, there`s lots of nicely colored coral here too.

The beach was clean and not too crowded for a public beach. For 10 dollars you can rent an umbrella for the day or some snorkeling equipment. The water was warm and you could see whale sitings from the beach as well as many boats bringing people in to the reefs to snorkel. Plenty of parking also.

The beach is about 10-15 from downtown Cabo. It is swimmable & was not quite cold for Jan. It was not crowded & we felt comfortable enough to leave our belongings while enjoying the water. There are no vendors so bring your own food & drinks. They do rent umbrellas at $12. We really enjoyed the scenery & even witnessed whales from afar! Very relaxing & more importantly, there are no vendors walking around and hassling you to purchase their goods. I understand it’s how many make a living, however, we wanted to just relax. I highly recommend water shoes since the water has many rocks. The bathroom is a nice distance but it is clean. Parking is free & Uber will pick you up from there.

Snorkeling at Chileno beach was on the top of our must do list for visiting Cabo after reading the reviews about it. Upon arrival we were shocked to find that the rental area was actually just a pop up canopy with a small folding table being run by 2 very young teenage boys. Communication was nearly impossible. The beach umbrellas for rent were destroyed and barely useable. The chairs were all broken and needed to be thrown away immediately. Not a usable beach chair in the stack. They charged us $20 for both the umbrella and the chair. After we figured out that all the chairs were broken and that there weren't any usable ones in the stack they gave us $5 back. After walking the umbrella all the way down to the far end of the beach it snapped in 1/2. We had to walk it all the way back to get a new one. The snorkle masks for rent were being returned and re-rented WITHOUT any cleaning what so ever! Hello Covid among other things!! The only snacks that were available were the lunch bag size chips that they were charging $2 a bag for! Also, beware that when you rent an umbrella or chair you will have to leave your drivers license with these kids. Probably not the best idea. After snorkeling for a few and not really seeing any fish our group decided to pack it in. Not at all what we were expecting.

Chileno Beach is located about a kilometer east of Santa Maria Beach around mile post 14. It has a large paved parking lot and has bathrooms and foot wash. I recommend bringing your own toilet paper as it may be empty on a busy day. We like the far right end of the beach as they have better snorkeling at that end. You can go a long ways to the right where the reef shelters the waves making it easy to snorkel. We visited Chileno Beach one day and Santa Maria Beach the next. Both are the best snorkeling beaches near Cabo. If you don't have a rental car and are adventuresome, try taking the public transit from Cabo to either beach to save money. However it will be a long walk from the highway to either beach.

Chileno is the only wheelchair accessible beach in Cabo San Lucas and it's great!!!! They have a totally smooth, paved walkway literally all the way down to the beach/sand with special cut-outs for wheelchairs. They have a beach wheelchair, there's only one but it was available for us and it was awesome. Chileno's waves, although strong, are much calmer than anywhere else in Cabo. There is no cost for the wheelchair, but you can rent an umbrella for $15 bucks. Bring food and water because there is nothing to purchase on the beach or nearby.

Get here early as the tourist boats start arriving around noon. Also, rent an umbrella and chairs ($22) because the sun is incredibly intense (and I live in FL). Also, there are no vendors of any type here so bring water and snacks. Bathrooms are a nice touch.

Nice bathrooms/showers at the entrance and after going to Medano beach, it was a breath of fresh air without vendors asking you to buy something every few minutes. It was also quiet because there weren’t beach clubs playing music and we had less rowdy people around us. We got an uber from the Marina area and it was only $11. Nice parking lot and clean walkways/beach. There’s a bridge-like walkway from the bathrooms to the beach that can be long depending where you set up, but the beach is long and you can walk down further to get away from the crowds. There’s a table after the bridge with guys renting umbrellas ($14? Possibly and chairs $10) We brought our own, but rented a boogie board for 240 Pesos ($12 for 3 hours) They had some snacks and drinks there too, but not close to a gas station or anything to walk to so I’d bring your own. The water was a great temp in July and good waves here. We felt a little more comfortable than Medano beach because, while the waves could still knock you down, they weren’t quite as rough. You do need to be careful if you get in the water more than waist deep because the sand is quite rocky and rough on your feet. Our boys (4 & 7) loved boogie boarding here so much!

Visited Chileno Bay public beach and had a wonderful experience. The sand was soft, the water was cool, but did not require wet suits to snorkel. The snorkeling right off the beach was amazing, just like looking at a tropical aquarium. We visited on a weekday in January and it was not crowded at all, there was lots of space but I am not sure if it would be busier on a weekend or during a more peak time. There is no natural shade available at this beach so bring your umbrella or sun tent or whatever you use if required for shade. Additionally it’s best to pack yourself lunch or snacks or what Mercer food you would like as there isn’t much nearby to get food or drinks. There are quite a few snorkel tour boats and other boats (party boats, pirate show boat, etc) that utilize the bay, but they don’t come too close to the beach (close enough you can hear their music though), and there’s lots of space to go snorkel off the beach without running into tour goers in the water. The boats do obstruct the picturesque view of the ocean as there were never less than 7-8 in the bay at a time. Overall definitely worth a visit and nice to spend a day here! Highly recommend it for the snorkelling and catching sun!

Beautiful beach. While visiting cabo we took a taxi from Riu resort paid $40 each way. Worth the money, the beach has no vendors, bathroom, showers, and a nice walk way to the beach. The waves were pretty strong, but we still manage to get in the water and swim a bit. There is a small booth when you arrive with a young man renting umbrellas. There were lots of families around, but the beach didn't feel busy and cluttered.

Hi. Are there any cabana rentals offered at Chileno beach?
Written June 11, 2024
Hassle free is to rent the equipment if you’re just going one time - we brought ours with us - all you need is a mask and snorkel. You’re maybe in the water an hour before you need a break. If you go later in the day you can get shade but day you’ll need a break from the sun!

Does anyone know the price to rent umbrella?
Written July 3, 2023
As of 2021, what are the hours of Chileno Beach? Does it close at a certain time? I am asking because I want to go to the beach to see the sunset.

Is taking an uber to the marina to use water taxi to go to the lovers beach, the best way to go? I'm bringing my 3 kids and on a budget they are excited to go snorkeling. Any good tips or advice how to get around I don't want to get lost.

The snorkeling at Lovers Beach/ Pelican Rock is pretty good. For the $20 I would take a water taxi tour and have him drop you off at Lovers. The magnificent sights of the arch, etc and possible sea life such as sea lions and dolphins are to great to miss out on. Water taxis are plentiful and should be cheap considering no cruise ships. Go to the marina on non-cruise ship days for the best negotiated price.
Chilenos is pretty good but it is a long way from the marina. Big beach though and go for a walk beyond the rocks on the east side(left). Uber is a cheap form of transport and easy to use but can only pick you up outside of the hotel grounds.

Can anyone tell me if there is a place to lock up belongings?
Written February 7, 2020
No, but you car would be in a parking lot just a few feet from the beach. Lock up the valuables in the trunk, or leave them back at the room.
