This was our first time to this beach and I didn’t know what to expect since the satélite images show dirt and sand for the parking lot.
When we got there we were pleasantly surprised by the big paved lot, restrooms, and awesome path to the beach.
It was about 12:30 pm and we expected a crowded beach on a Saturday. It certainly wasn’t and there was a lot of room for all.
Did a little snorkeling and some swimming and the water was great with a few fish swimming by.
Just a caution about the force of the surf. It really pushes and pulls and could take small children and smaller people down pretty quickly.
I only rated 4 out of 5 because of two things: the “sand” and the boats anchored off shore.
The sand is actually very hard rocks and coral. It’s small, but, my feet were wrecked. Next time I’d wear water shoes or other shoes.
The boats anchored out just 50 ft or so off the beach were all blasting different music. It made for a loud mix of sounds that wasn’t very pleasant.
If you don’t have an umbrella you can rent one for $250MXD and they’ll set it up for you!

I was staying in downtown Cabo San Lucas (near the marina) and I took the purple Desierto bus to Chileno beach. I'm a solo traveller and it was easy to figure out. I took the bus from the main road Lazaro, it costs 28 pesos, and even though most of the bus drivers didn't speak English, I just told them I want to go to Chileno Beach and they let me know once we got there. For the way back, walk under the bridge and you'll see another bus shelter close by. Another bus came (not a Desierto) but it was going to San Lucas so I took it. It dropped me off at the same place I had originally taken it but across the road.
I was underwhelmed when I first saw Chileno. I rented an umbrella for 250 pesos. I snorkeled on the right side of the beach, and went quite far trying to see something good, but the snorkeling is just average. Lots of fish and dead corals, not much else. My favorite thing about Chileno is that if you leave the crowds and keep walking on the beach past the rocks, you come across a gorgeous secluded area that I thought was beautiful. I spend the rest of my day here. There are bathrooms and showers available but no food. Water was cold but bearable for swimming in Jan/Feb.

We booked our flight from LA to Cabo and booked our resort near Chileno beach, we also booked our airport transportation to our resort online with Cape Transfers because their rate were the lowest (our resort transportation offered the option but was ridiculously expensive). We spent our first 2 days visiting El arco and then San Jose del Cabo, the third day we decided we wanted to go to a beach and got recommendation from our concierge to go to Chileno beach, just please keep in mind one thing: in case you didn't know this place is probably the most crowded beach in Cabo. lots of locals go there and it even has a parking lot (which is great), we recommend you to bring sandals (even when entering the beach) because there are a lot of rocks at the bottom, I would give chileno beach a 4 out of 5 rate

Get here early as the tourist boats start arriving around noon. Also, rent an umbrella and chairs ($22) because the sun is incredibly intense (and I live in FL). Also, there are no vendors of any type here so bring water and snacks. Bathrooms are a nice touch.

The beach is about 10-15 from downtown Cabo. It is swimmable & was not quite cold for Jan. It was not crowded & we felt comfortable enough to leave our belongings while enjoying the water. There are no vendors so bring your own food & drinks. They do rent umbrellas at $12. We really enjoyed the scenery & even witnessed whales from afar! Very relaxing & more importantly, there are no vendors walking around and hassling you to purchase their goods. I understand it’s how many make a living, however, we wanted to just relax. I highly recommend water shoes since the water has many rocks. The bathroom is a nice distance but it is clean. Parking is free & Uber will pick you up from there.

Chileno is the only wheelchair accessible beach in Cabo San Lucas and it's great!!!! They have a totally smooth, paved walkway literally all the way down to the beach/sand with special cut-outs for wheelchairs. They have a beach wheelchair, there's only one but it was available for us and it was awesome. Chileno's waves, although strong, are much calmer than anywhere else in Cabo. There is no cost for the wheelchair, but you can rent an umbrella for $15 bucks. Bring food and water because there is nothing to purchase on the beach or nearby.

For a public beach, we were surprised by the quality of the facilities. They have clean bathrooms and showers. No trash anywhere. Also, beach umbrellas, chairs, and snorkel gear was available to rent for a modest fee. The beach itself was beautiful and there were plenty of fish to see when you go near the rocks. Definitely worth a visit, as this is one of the few beaches in the area that's safe for swimming.

The beach is easy to get to. I took the bus that runs every 20 minutes up Hwy 1 from Cabo San Lucas (just a couple of dollars each way). The stops for the bus are also safe and there`s a bridge which makes crossing the highway for the return trip safe.
The beach is a good size and gets lots of visitors. Nice washroom facilities and parking lot if you`re driving. Snorkeled along the right edge and was greatly rewarded. Some of the best snorkeling was out among the offshore rocks just to the right of the swim area marker line. Besides fish, there`s lots of nicely colored coral here too.

The beach was clean and not too crowded for a public beach. For 10 dollars you can rent an umbrella for the day or some snorkeling equipment. The water was warm and you could see whale sitings from the beach as well as many boats bringing people in to the reefs to snorkel. Plenty of parking also.

This is a gorgeous beach roughly 14.5 kilometers from Cabo. You can get there by private vehicles (plenty of parking available), public bus (37 MXP - about US$1.75). or Uber (about 200 MXP - US$10). The beach has clean bathrooms at the entrance, and showers. You can rent snorkeling gear, chairs, and umbrellas. The beach itself is wide, clean, has good snorkeling and no vendors pestering you every 30 seconds. I don't begrudge people trying to earn a living, but they should also respect people on vacation who don't want to be impolite by constantly saying "no gracias." If you want peace and solace, spend the day at Chileno Beach.

As of 2021, what are the hours of Chileno Beach? Does it close at a certain time? I am asking because I want to go to the beach to see the sunset.

Is taking an uber to the marina to use water taxi to go to the lovers beach, the best way to go? I'm bringing my 3 kids and on a budget they are excited to go snorkeling. Any good tips or advice how to get around I don't want to get lost.

The snorkeling at Lovers Beach/ Pelican Rock is pretty good. For the $20 I would take a water taxi tour and have him drop you off at Lovers. The magnificent sights of the arch, etc and possible sea life such as sea lions and dolphins are to great to miss out on. Water taxis are plentiful and should be cheap considering no cruise ships. Go to the marina on non-cruise ship days for the best negotiated price.
Chilenos is pretty good but it is a long way from the marina. Big beach though and go for a walk beyond the rocks on the east side(left). Uber is a cheap form of transport and easy to use but can only pick you up outside of the hotel grounds.

Plz, Can anyone advise me on the where’s & hows to get from cruise port to #1Chileno, #2 Santa Maria? We were planning to take the bus but after reading these questions I’m concerned because I can’t walk a long way, especially carrying beach “gear.” My g-daughters have their hearts set on snorkeling. Would the bus trip be too arduous? We’re going in August, and on a budget! Also, what about those nasty jellyfish? My thanks to anyone taking the time to reply!!!

The distance is probably 5-7 miles. Take an Uber. It will probably cost 100 pesos or $5 USD
I’ve read the walkway at Santa Maria Beach is 5-10 minutes and over a mile long! Can anyone tell me if Santa Maria is significantly longer than Chileno?? I have issues that prevent my walking more than 10-15 minutes at a time. Thank you.

You will have no problems at all!! its only like 2 minutes walking from the parking lot! don't sweat it! you are good to go! ;)
Any recent updates regarding jellyfish at Chileno beach? We went with a large group to Santa Maria for snorkeling and most of the group got stung. Hoping for a better day at Chileno, anyone have info?

We were at Chileano twice this week including yesterday and stayed snorkeling within the bay - middle rock area on West side and ok. Saw a couple of small jellyfish out in open sea near boats but they were not in shore. I’d go again today or this week.
