An unbelievable experience of a lifetime. We were lucky enough to have a face to face with a whale…a whale! Crazy! We had daily excursions to the whale observation area. When not whale watching, we were eating great food, talking with new friends, playing games and learning about the Baja. The sunsets were breathtaking. Sunrise was equally awe inspiring. The stars at night are unlike anything I have ever seen. There is no light pollution so the sky is full of more visible stars than you can imagine. We stayed in comfortable tents. Solar showers were easy to use and kept us clean and fresh. The food was absolutely amazing. The staff was incredible! A life changing trip that I hope to do again some day.

Our whale watching tour with Baja Discovery was amazing and felt like a spiritual experience. Having the whales approach your boat and being able to touch them was an indescribable experience. From the moment we met Angie and her crew at the start of the trip in San Diego we felt cared for. They guided us through the border crossing and Tijuana airport and it was nice to feel no worries about any travel snafus. Once we arrived at our camp in Punta Piedra we marveled at the perfect location. You are able to observe lots of whale activity right from the shores of the camp. The staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable. You can tell they have a great deal of respect for the whales and want to keep this special place

A last-minute opportunity to join a small group visiting the San Ignacio Lagoon turned into a trip I will always cherish. Angie, who runs Baja Discovery, provides the personal touch, as does her entire camp team at the lagoon. Knowledgable, personable, and welcoming the staff play host and educator interchangeably. The accommodations are minimal. Hey, it's camping (not really glamping). The bed is a mattress pad on a cot, with a clean sleeping bag. Comfortable enough. The area is windy, so bring your favorite earplugs for a good night's sleep. Three outhouses, a shared outdoor sink, and two solar-heated showers round out facilities. You're not there for luxury. If you go, you're going for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the home of gray whales caring for their babies, bottlenose dolphins, and lots of birdlife. It is really a special place. Food is very good. Getting off the grid (none of us had any cellular service) was a gift I didn't know I needed. If you are looking for an eco-adventure with some of the planet's oldest mammals and like-minded travelers, this is it. The location on the lagoon is perfect.

If you are someone who is drawn to go beyond the usual whale watching, this is the trip for you. To make contact with beings that mostly live in another world. No one can guarantee contact with the whales, but I was able to touch them five out of six trips. Sometimes more than one would come up to the boat. It is their choice. There are no luxury accomodations by the lagoon. I would pick this one for the fact alone that you can just look out all day and see whales. But you also feel welcome and taken care of as described by other reviewers. Hoping for a fourth visit.

My husband and I had an amazing whale watching trip with Baja Discovery!!! First, the location of the Baja Discovery Camp was perfect. We were able to watch whales breaching right from shore (can't do this at the other camps in the lagoon). The staff was impressively knowledgeable about everything "whale", ready to help with any need and providing food that was first class! In the short time we were there the staff made us feel like family. You could tell they loved their work. Lastly, the whales put on a remarkable show! Many people have gone whale "watching" this was so much more immersive!!! Not many trips can be described as "life changing" but Baja Discovery whale watching was just that!!!
