My friends and I went to Bali on vacation. We decided to go and make coconut oil. It was a great experience the family was great to meet and we felt welcomed and had a wonderful time. It is definitely something to do while you are in Bali. Also the driver who drove us there was welcoming and informative. It was an excellent day. I couldn't have asked for more. Don't pass up this experience.

This was the most unique and amazing experience. We were picked up in Ubud and transported to the Taro Village where we were met with our teacher and his mum in his family part of the village. There we learned about the offerings and learned to make one each. We were dressed in traditional sari and shared coffee and a rice biscuit with the family. We learned about customs and family life in the village and the spiritual and religious significance of the ceremonies and customs and the different buildings.

From there we walked down into the valley. This was totally unexpected and truly magical. The village during Covid constructed a road down and built a cafe. As you walk down you are surrounded by giant ferns, bamboo and ancient trees - this is the first bit. Then you come to the second part which are a series of stairs and walkways that take you down past more giant ferns, rice paddy terraces and down to the river.

It is here where we offered our offerings and said prayers. The final part was a ritualistic cleansing in the crystal clear water with our guide and teacher. I’m so sorry I have forgotten his name.

It was truly wonderful and the community are beautiful. Highly recommended to visit here

Made a silver ring for myself back in August 2022. It was a brilliant experience. The folks running the studio were super nice and gave me a tour of thier village (which is beautiful btw) along with the excellent instructions to make the ring.

“Sangayou was a lovely warm friendly host the trip up on the motorbike was fun and interesting we saw ducks and women working the rice fields People going about their day children playing plenty of women walking with baskets full on their head. The coconut oil making experience was an eye opener how hard they have to work step by step process opening up the coconut to peeling it off the shell to grating and squeezing out the juice to cooking to make the oil and separating from the water very interesting and an experience you will remember. You make your own special bottle of oil you take with you, there is also a coconut hand and arm scrub and massage involved beautiful. Thankyou”

Another fantastic Ubud activities experience. We added this onto the back of our traditional Taro village visit. Upon arriving at the home where we took part in this activity we were welcomed which indoor shoes to wear for the experience as well as a choice of tea, coffee or water and given traditional rice snacks. We were able to look at examples prices of jewellery ranging from an assortment of rings and necklace pendants to bangles and earrings, this really helped us to choice the sort of style we wanted. I chose to do a thin band ring with a gem stone (gem stones are extra IDR depending on chosen stone, mine was an additional 350,000 IDR) and my partner chose to do a simple wide band ring with engraving (came to over 5gram allowance and each additional gram is charged at 50,000 IDR). The guide spent one on one time with us both (we were the only ones partaking in experience) showing each of us the steps and us repeating them for our items of jewellery. We undertook the whole process from melting the silver to washing and polishing. The only improvement would be if we were offered boxes to keep these safe in especially with travelling however we were content to wear these when we left so was not a concern.

The silver jewellery making was an amazing experience were the teacher would guide you on how to make silver jewellery ranging from rings, bracelets, earrings and pendants! We started by picking the the item in our case 2 rings! We begin the process of crafting our own jewellery by melting the silver, hammering to shape, engraving, filling to make flush, then we cleaned our rings and polished them! My partner choose a gem stone ring in which we had to pay extra for the gem stone which is optional! I choose an engraved pinky ring which weighed over 7 grams 2 grams over the 5 gram limit in which it was 50,000 IDR per gram over 5 grams! Since we were inexperienced we made a couple mistakes however our guide helped correct our mistakes and would help on parts we struggled to ensure our rings met the design we envisioned! Overall the experience was great and would recommend if you would like a taste of Balinese culture

A truly amazing one of a kind experience full of culture. The tour guide and his wife welcomed us with open arms along with the rest of the village who we crossed paths with. During the experience we were taught how to make two different style offerings, one of which we then used that day and the second which helped them for the coming day to make their offerings. Whilst going from leaves and flowers to an offering, we were taught the meanings behind the whole process and the positioning of each flower/ offering, the balancing of good and bad. We were given a choice of tea or coffee and given traditional rice snacks during this time, and dressing in sarongs ahead of the water blessing. We then walked down to the temple where we were able to give our offerings and take part in the water blessing, taking part it the 5 prayers prior to the water blessing itself. During the water blessing we were given two options; submerge in the holy water or receive splashes of the holy water from the tour guide. Honestly a truly immersive experience and my favourite part of experiencing Bali so far. Seeing the traditional working methods and the genuine day to day life of Balinese people. Highly recommend this experience with Ubud Activities

The Bali traditional village experience exceeded expectation! The experience gave a real taster into the Balinese culture! Our tour guide was friendly and gave so much insight and knowledge on the culture of Bali. The tour guide and his wife welcomed us into his home and gave us a lesson on making an offering whilst explaining what the offering means and why they do it! The tour then followed by going down to the temple to place our handmade offerings and undertake a water blessing in the holy water down at the river where you have to options one of which you can do the ritual yourself by submerging yourself in holy water or the guide can splash you with the holy water! Overall if you would like an insight to traditional Balinese culture then this experience cannot be missed
