I have been fishing several times, occasionally not catching anything, but I had high expectations for catching fish, especially when told they “killed it” the day before. However, I was dissapointed in my recent fishing charter in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico with San Carlos Aquatic Adventures/Team Margarita Sport Fishing. From the start myself and 3 friends arrived at the boat (Margarita IV) a few minutes early but before the owner and driver/captain. The boat is advertised as having twin engines with new outdrives to get you to the fishing grounds quickly. It was obvious the boat is in need of repairs. Owner Bryan was a very nice guy, but from the beginning the boat didn’t go into reverse gear and he told us we couldn’t get up to a faster speed because one engine starts “knocking”. It’s also advertised with “modern electronics”. Bryan also told us the VHF radio was broken so he couldn’t communicate with other boats, which an experienced fishing business knows is important to help locate where the fish are running. At one point a metal piece fell to the floor, a piece that was wedged into the side of the boat to hold up the back of the bench seat. The boat is advertised to handle four comfortably. We all got on the boat but for whatever reason Bryan only put three lines out in the water. He said his other (larger) boat was unavailable, missing an out drive/being repaired. The rates are also advertised to include a box lunch, soft drinks, water, etc. None of this was provided. We brought our own drinks and any food. After not getting even a bite for four hours, Bryan said the fish should be biting at midday. By then my friends were ready to head back to the dock.

Found Bryan and Arturo through TripAdvisor and once again, it was spot on. Left Marina Real at 0730 hrs and within two minutes after clearing the harbor had our first fish and from then on it was non-stop action, We just kept catching bonita but were looking for yellowtail. All the while we were trolling right next to some incredible scenery, great rock formations, and in perfect conditions. Bryan and Arturo finally got a lead on where the fish were, so we trolled over there, changed rigs and in an hour had 7 yellowtail in the boat. Got back to the dock and Bryan offered to take a fish over to a local restaurant, Colibri, where they fixed us an amazing array of different yellowtail dishes. Sushi, and then for the main course a choice of three different preparations. All of which were excellent. I set up this charter by emailing Bryan and he got right back to me, answered all my questions and I had a great time. After fishing I got another email from Bryan asking if I wanted some of the yellowtail he had smoked. It was outstanding. The next time I'm in San Carlos, which will be the end of April, I'm going fishing with Bryan and Arturo again!

Brian and Arturo were pleasant and professional. We caught fish quickly and often. Brian took the fish home, cleaned and vacuum packed them for us. He even volunteered to smoke some of them up for us! Amazing sights and pleasant weather. Highly recommended.

For starters, all of the communication that I had with Bryan (the Owner) was via text and could not have been any easier. He sent me Arturo's (the Captains) cell phone number and I called him the morning of our trip just to confirm a couple questions that I had. We were given the choice as to when we wanted to start our charter. My son (Stanley) and I got to the Marina at 9:00am. Arturo and Jose were ready and we were sailing within minutes. We started trolling right out of the harbor and was unsuccessful for the first 30-45 minutes. Arturo suggested that we bottom fish and took us to a great spot. We pulled in a number of different species (Trigger, Rock Bass, and others) In total, I think we caught 17 fish in 4 hours. My son reeled in 3 and Arturo and Jose were very helpful with my 7 year old. I would highly recommend this company if your are in San Carlos and want an enjoyable day on the water. I can't imagine how great it would be in the summer with bigger fish. Thank you Arturo and Jose!!!!!!!!
