Archaeologist-Led Cañada de La Virgen Pyramid Tour

432 reviews
Get an inside look at what it takes to uncover ancient ruins by visiting Cañada de La Virgen on an archaeologist-led tour. Your guide took part in the site’s 2004 excavation, giving him a unique insight into the relatively-recently uncovered Mesoamerican complex. As you tour the site he can share details you can’t discover on your own and would likely miss on a different guided tour.

I really enjoyed my ride on Sheriff in San Miguel. We met at the barn and started our journey into the countryside. The trails were interesting along the way. We rode past a sculpture garden, the first San Miguel church, beautiful pastures, and a lake. Mauricio was knowledgable of the area and provided a great tour. But where the place shines and why I recommend 3 Senores for you horse treks has to do with the condition of the horses and their happiness with taking me for a ride. Mauricio obviously loves all his mounts and none seemed sour. I've ridden all over the world and this place truly earns 5 stars. He also rescues dogs and horses and the dogs were just as loved. He can also tailor your experience to your mount and tour. I highly recommend this tour it was so energizing and fun.

What an amazing and tranquil experience. A wonderful mix of learning about the history of San Miguel and learning to ride a horse, trot, canter and gallop! Mauricio is a true cowboy, an excellent teach and clearly loves his horses with all his heart. Will absolutely come back and ride again at 3Senores. Thank you!!!

We did a one hour easy ride with our 3-year-old horse-crazy daughter. It was a highlight of our trip. Mauricio was incredible. Not only kind and helpful but really interesting to talk with. I find trail rides can be a bit boring just following along after the next person but this wasn’t like that at all. They led the horses to a trot on many occasions which my daughter loved but also always had safety as a priority. We learnt some interesting information about the area and had a really good chat with Mauricio. Would highly recommend for adults or families!

Mauricio was a gentleman and a professional; Great with our 12 and 14-year-old boys who had no riding experience. The two hour ride was just right for novices and convenient to downtown. He got our height weight and writing experience in advance and selected the right horses for us.
