Sad lack of organization or professionalism
Jul 2021
I'm writing this in hopes that the management will read it and consider that you are destroying a good business with a total lack of care for the client experience...

How many people have to say it's impossible to find anything to invest in good signage? It's all over your reviews!!!

I get it now. You spend half your time walking 20 minutes here and there, searching for everything to the point of exhaustion. There is NO ONE on the grounds to offer help.

Then, there are NO signs on lockers on where to get a lock. You have to ask everyone and get lost and frustrated for their lack of professionalism. Then they may or may not have locks... Get a clue and get the kind that are COMPLIMENTARY. come into the 21st century!b

Horrible signage to find the spa, Hasn't that been said many times here already? We spent 30 minutes to find it, then were told we had to pay for the service beforehand, in the office, on the other side of the property. Imagine? This is how they welcome you to the spa. Go walk 15 minutes more to pay first. This is not mentioned when you book.

The place is really beautiful, but I probably won't return for all of the hassles.

Don't waste your time!

We took a day trip to Escondido Place from Guanajuato. It took us about an hour to get there. We paid $190 pesos to get in and $800 pesos for a 55-minute massage. We immediately started looking for the hot springs, but not one could tell us where to go. We noticed that the facilities were a little run down. We finally found the springs and got in. The water was lukewarm and packed with little kids and adults. The steps were full of grass and dirt. We got in for two minutes and decided that it was not for us. We tried looking for other pools but all of them were cold water pools. We decided to leave. They were gracious enough to give us a refund for the massage and the entrance fee.

Disappointed
Jul 2021 • Couples
It is OUR experience and others, including those with children might think differently.

We went for the thermal springs. Thought there might be outside places. There aren’t.

There only 2 chambers open. Neither had seats. Children in there swimming and splashing in the hit water. There are pools etc. for them to swim in. But if you wanted to sit and relax, just not possible.

Will not return.

ESCONDIDO PLACE vs LA GRUTA
Sep 2020
I’m going to review both of these places together to compare as they are across the road from each other:
I am also using categories with winner and loser of each category

CLEANLINESS- winner LA GRUTA. Hands down much cleaner and better maintained and cared for. ESCONDIDO PLACE looks very poorly maintained which in turn makes it feel dirty.

HOSPITALITY-winner LA GRUTA. Very hospitable and plenty of staff on hand to care for guests. ESCONDIDO PLACE made us feel alone and abandoned guessing where things were at. How do we use lockers here? Where is temescal and covered pools? Where is the spa? The grounds were very unkept and overgrown so the minor signage they did provide was blocked by branches and leaves.

MASSAGES- winner LA GRUTA. Masseuse Adriana at La Gruta was so much better at understanding what deep tissue massage is. Spa was much easier to find and overall feel of spa was cleaner and more comfortable.

Overall experience- winner (hands down) is LA GRUTA. Layout was better, signage better, grounds kept in much better condition, hospitality better and service better! Full disclosure, La Gruta does cost 5.00 usd more to go in but there is no question it is well worth the extra 5! Bottom line one place feels as if we visited while it was closed (Escondido Place) and the other was up and running beautifully!
Felicidades La Gruta!!

Quiet, relaxing, beautiful hot springs
Sep 2020
Love this place, relaxing and quiet. Great to bring food, grill, even set up a tent--and great for the kids. I always love visiting this place. Restaurant was closed when we went in Sept 20. Bring a lock for your locker. Get there earlier to get a good chair or covered sofa by the pool.

It felt a little run down and abandoned

We took a cab to this place . There were no ppl but it was a cool Tuesday morning. The underground thermal pools were nice but we felt La Gruta, the other thermal hot springs resort nearby was much nicer. Would recommend that one instead of Escondido.

Skip this if you've been to other hot springs
Nov 2019
While the grounds and changing areas are clean and nicely kept, the hot springs fell below expectations. It is in a two-section glass enclosed pool divided by a wall that's designed to look like a cave. Both pools are pretty small. One section had couples making out in the water, the other was pretty crowded with families and children. Not a great experience for a mature couple, and not half as nice as hot springs in Costa Rica and Iceland.

Loved it but remember your towel
Dec 2019
So our first choice was closed so we came here. Got a reasonably priced massage ona walk in and enjoyed the grounds, The hot tubs were amazing. I just wished I had remembered a towel. They don’t rent them so we had to buy one and it was over priced.
Admission and massages were very reasonable. If it was warmer the other pools would have been a plus.

Dec 2019 • Friends
We ended going to Escondido Place Spa because of first choice wasn’t open. The staff was pleasant. It was a little confusing trying to navigate. The water was warm/hot. I wish we had know to bring our own locks for the lockers We liked the Spa kitty.

Disappointing
Oct 2019
We arrived quite late in the afternoon ; the place was empty and therefore quite sad to be honest . Indications were almost non existing so it took us some time to find the pools which were not even warm and a bit dirty. The place is beautiful but not well maintained , such a lost potential
