The library holds many cultural events on the site, and is a great place to find about other events throughout the city. Also a great place to meet members of the large expat community. Cafe located on the premises.

Sunday's midday show up to buy tickets for a tour of some of the more interesting and beautifully decorated homes in SMA. Funds support the local schools and weekdays you see all the kids in their uniforms. While waiting for the tour. Start, enjoy the mariachis and shop in the bookstore.

This is a wonderful place to take a respite from the hustle and bustle of touring. They have some rooms with art, some very nice murals and other items of interest. The best though was to sit in one of the surprisingly comfortable chairs, shut your eyes and just listen to the fountain. Loved it!

Go to the biblioteca to find out what is going on in town, to make reservations for tours and concerts, to buy books by local authors, etc. I got a wonderful map of the town by local cartographer Rhonda with the best restaurants, shops, and culture sites notated. We found this more helpful than other maps we had. Meet at... More

This is the place to go when you first arrive in San Miguel. There is a cafe, theater, courtyard where a lot of people meet to take Spanish, children's programs, a store that sells used books in Spanish and English and very clean bathrooms. They offer lectures, musical programs, movies and much more!

Checking out a book is just the beginning. There is also a cozy cafe, and a cool gift store with lots of books about San Miguel and books by local authors. There is also a theater - Teatro Santa Ana - with concerts (I saw a fantastic tribute to Carlos Santana there last night). There is also a home and... More

The library is a good place to learn about tours and activities. It also has a great cafe and gift shop. We took the Sunday house and garden tours from here.

I have taken the house and garden tour when visiting San Miguel with friends and always enjoy it. I've also seen plays in the library's theatre that were excellent. This time we went to see a flamenco guitarist -- Sergio Basurto -- who also played the harp. Music from Latin America -- Paraguay, Uruguay, Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, etc. and... More

This cafe is inside the Biblioteca ( Library). Besides daily specials, there is a good variety of soups and salads and starters and delicious desserts. We recently enjoyed the chicken satay (large portion and very good), the Greek salad with fresh goat cheese and the Cobb Salad with delish blue cheese. The coffee and lemonade are worth the trip alone. Recommended... More
