It has been 3 weeks since I returned from a wonderful month in Europe. Upon my return people have been asking me for my favorite part and without a doubt, the time I spent at AMODEO’S is right there at the top of the list.
With Covid tempering the tourist crowds, my girlfriend & I found ourselves being treated like royalty by Frank Amodeo. Frank & his family own the farm & make it a practice to do the tours.
This is so much more than a tour though. This is someone welcoming you into their family; sharing stories, recipes, delicious food, great wine and most of all OLIVES!! Who knew there could be so much to learn about the proper way to taste olive oil? I will treasure the memories shared that day & can’t thank the AMODEO’S enough for their hospitality.

Spending the day with Francesco "Frank" Amodeo was a grand highlight of our 8 days in Italy. I truly understand the value and importance of fine EVOO. Beautiful farm and Frank is passionate, honest, and committed to his craft. Not to mention that he has a fantastic, warm personality with a great sense of humor. VERY welcoming. WE expected to receive a "snack" but what we got was an authentic variety of home cooked food straight from his kitchen. And he smothered it in his EVOO. Delicious!!! His olive oil is so outstanding that I purchased 28 bottles for gifts at Christmas. Frank shipped them to me at a very reasonable cost. I promise. Spend the day with Francesco and you will feel like you have experienced real life in Sicily and that you have met your long lost cousin!

We were traveling through Sicily in part to try different olive oils, and stayed at an Airbnb. We asked the owner for recommendations. The owner was Francesco, who offered to show us his olive trees the next morning. Not only did he show us "our tree" (apocryphal, of course), he took us to the local mill where he presses his olives to make Amodeo's fabulous oil. He had brought some bread from the local baker, specially crafted to go with freshly pressed oil. Thick slices drenched with newly pressed oil was heavenly. We have purchased wonderful oil from Francesco several times since then. We look forward to seeing Francesco on a future trip back to Sicily.

Delicious and intimate lunch at a beautiful olive oil farm. Francesco was a very gracious host and a wonderful chef. The olive oil was some of the best we’ve ever had. Definitely include this on your Sicilian itinerary! Tutto bene!!!!

This was the highlight of our trip to Sicily. Frank is the best of the best. He was an excellent host and became a fast friend. I’d love to go back just to visit and see the farm. Don’t miss this.

Coming to Amodeo's Farm, was like visiting family! Francesco welcomed us onto his Olive Oil fam with open arms and an open heart. He had set up a wonderful lunch with fresh pecorino and ricotta, and sausages cooked on the grill. Accompanied by a great bottle of wine. He made us so comfortably that we talked like we had known each other for years. We had a tour of the farm and the processing area. He shared his in depth knowledge of olives and the olive oil making process. Sharing historical and modern day methods of making olive oil. We had an olive oil tasting that taught us the correct way to taste it and what to look for in a good quality olive oil.
We finished the day with a tour of the old town of Montevago. He shared his passion for his family, the history of the town and how Amodeo's Farm came to be. Leaving Amodeo's Farm was like saying goodbye to family....you know you will see them again! Thank you Francesco!

This day is one my entire family will never forget. Francesco is very passionate about what he does. He is an excellent teacher and host. Everyone at Amodeo's was exceptional, friendly and warm. We had the most wonderful day learning about their methods of growing olives, the process of making olive oil and tips for purchasing authentic virging olive oil. We were treated to more delicious food and wine than you can possibly imagine. Incredibly accommodating. Can't say enough about this fantastic experience.

We were a group of 12 people came to Amodeo's farm on a sunny February day, Francesco was so nice to us. He first explained about the olive trees to us, then he had all that whole table of Sicily food for us. The fresh home made sandwiches, salad, cheese, spaghetti with that olive oil which we never had that before, everything was so delicious! Later he brought us out to the grove to demonstrate how to harvest the olive, then he brought us to his factory to see how the olive oil was made. At the end of the tour he even brought us to the old town to see the damage by the earthquake in 1968, before leaving the town, he bought us the sweets to have a happy ending visit ! Francesco is expert on the olive trees and olive oil, we learned a lot from the visit. We highly praise his farm and his passion for the olive oil, his way to welcome people to come. It was really a great day for us , it was truly a day of Sicily experience! Many thanks to Francesco and his friends !!!

I cannot even begin to explain my love for this experience.
Let me explain...
First, my wife and I are came to Sicily for our honeymoon. While we’ve seen and done a lot, nothing compares to the hospitality received from Frank and family.
We arrived and immediately felt right at home as Frank and his friend, Gina, had a local food spread for us to eat with a local wine drink to top it all off.
After the other couple on our tour arrived, we dug right into to this beautiful and amazingly delicious food sitting in front of us. All the while, Frank is conversing with us, telling us about himself and wanting to learn more about us before he started talking to us about his passion: olive oil. And man, was it worth listening to.
After finishing this gigantic, healthful and delicious lunch (which also made me a believer in not only olives, but tomatoes, as I typically don’t like either), we went out for a short walk to his family’s olive farm where he went on to explain all that goes into growing, harvesting and making the olive oil. He even let us operate some of the equipment for fun!
When this was over, we went back inside and did the olive oil tasting. We tried his oil and compared it to others and there is. It doubt its better, and I’m so mad at myself for not getting better olive oil. Needless to say, we bought a number of bottles to bring home with us.
When this was over, and we were offered coffee, tea, water, and some homemade limoncello from Frank and Gina, we went outside and cracked our own almonds to try because, well, why not right?!
We said goodbye to Gina and followed Frank for a quick tour of the old town of Montevego that was destroyed 50 years ago in back to back earthquakes, and then went for a tour of his families olive harvesting area also right down the road.
Lastly, when we couldn’t have asked for a better ending to our tour already, Frank then took us to a local bakery and treated us to cannolo and other treats.
It was a great experience that we enjoyed very much, not because of all the wonderful things we got to do and see and eat, but simply because of the hospitality we received and the feeling of friendship we received from the couple that were on the tour with us and Frank himself.
If there is anything you do the entire time you are here, do this. The memories you receive will be worth every bit of time and money you’d spend elsewhere while here in Sicily. I cannot even explain how appreciative we are and how much fun we had here.
Thanks again Frank!

Ciao
My husband and I are travelling to Sicily from Australia in October this year.
Is this the right season for a tour?
My husband is Italian heritage & I thought this might be something nice to do on our road trip.
We are planning on spending a couple of days in Agrigento
Grazie
