worth a visit, better than you might expect
Aug 2020
This is a pleasant surprise, based in an old RAF WW2 base and restored through the extraordinary efforts of a small team - their work alone would make this worth a visit. The museum houses WW2 memorabilia from the RAF, US and German armies, putting aside the slight boob fetish on some of the models, there are a great deal of uniforms on display here as well as hardware both with lots of information.

This is a great wet day activity as it is mainly indoors.

New displays for 2021
Jul 2020 • Couples
This very interesting memorial museum will not be opening in 2020 due to the risks associated with Covid-19. The volunteers are working on some new displays for the 2021 season.

Great visit
Oct 2019 • Family
Visited today with Mum, wife and 12 year old son. Very impressed with the museum, it has a lot more there than you realise. We unfortunately couldn’t stay as long as we would like and will definitely return again. The people there were very friendly and knowledgeable and this is obviously much more to them than a museum. Fantastic visit and as said we will definitely be back. Thank you.

Absolute little gem
Sep 2019
We stumbled on this little gem by accident having taken a wrong turning & ended up on the disused runway! I'm glad we did! We were welcomed by a friendly gentleman who had spent 15 years of his life building up this museum. Being ex RAF myself, I found it extremely interesting. Lots of information on the local area, the history of the station, with a fabulous display of model planes not too mention the Cold War exhibition. The two guides were full of knowledge & the museum was clearly a labour of love. This museum should not be missed if you are travelling around the North Cornwall area.

A Rather Special Museum
Jul 2019
This memorial museum is a great tribute to all who served at RAF Davidstow Moor and contains a plethora of fascinating artifacts, all of which are clearly marked. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful with the little chapel room especially moving. The model aircraft collection is superb as is the diorama of nearby RAF St Eval.
Highly recommended!

We had just visited the Cornwall at War museum and were leaving in our car, when we noticed that there was another museum on almost the same site. We'd spent a long time at the Cornwall museum, but oh! how we wished we had seen this one first! We were welcomed by the owner, a retired RAF gentleman and his wife, and were treated to a personally guided tour, after which we were left alone to explore. What a gem! The museum is devoted to the memory of the aerodrome, Royal Air Force Davidstow Moor, and all those men and women who served there during the war. So many personal items, so many letters and photographs, uniforms and equipment belonging to past personnel. Technical and electrical gear, maps, displays and models, all spotless (unlike the Cornwall at War museum, which although interesting, felt a bit run down) and it was obviously a labour of love. There was even a small, but beautiful, memorial chapel. Other interesting items included a vast collection of aeroplane wreckage from both local and Devonshire accidents. If only we hadn't been in such a hurry - but we will certainly return soon for a more detailed exploration of both this museum and the 'resting' aerodrome, of whose buildings this museum makes use. Wonderful.

Interesting museum

We enjoyed our visit to this museum which is set in some old buildings of the disused airbase. It is a must see for anyone interested in the role of the RAF in Cornwall during WW2 with extensive and informative displays. The volunteer who met us on arrival was very knowledgeable and friendly making our visit more enjoyable. We hadn't previously heard about this museum and only came across it on passing by after a walk on nearby Roughtor...but so glad we did!
