Lovely secluded beach
Jul 2021
This beach is accessible from the road or along the Manly to The Spit Walkway. It is a quiet beach offering beautiful views across the water to Fairlight.

Stunning views of Manly
Jan 2021 • Solo
Lovely secluded beach, wish I got here earlier during my walk from The Spit to Manly but by the time I arrived it was sunset and getting cold. But the views here are stunning and an excellent option if you want a beach that’s on the quiet side. It can be very tricky to get to as there’s a few stairs to navigate, but it’s worth it.

Yet another beautiful Sydney harbour beach
Nov 2020
Sydney Harbour offers so many picturesque and often secluded harbour beaches, and Forty Baskets is just one more. While it is not my own favourite it has lots to offer, especially for families, starting with safe swimming for young children. Picnic and play facilities are good with shady areas, grassy areas and the sandy beach itself - plus BBQ facilities and picnic tables. It is on the (highly recommended) walk from Manly to the Spit Bridge.

Great little spot for a swim and play with the family
Apr 2019
A little hidden gem. A beautiful walk to a little beach usually without many others around. Part of the manly to spit walk path. Great spot as no waves for kids to play and swim in the shoreline.

Beautiful Walk
Nov 2019
The pool is usually pretty clean and the water is refreshing. The walk can be as long or short as you wish. Sydney Harbour foreshore at it's prettiest!

Harbour Park Historic Gem of Sydney
Apr 2019 • Family
Situated directly at tranquil North Harbour, a cove of Sydney’s Port Jackson, the large park lies in Balgowlah along the popular walking track from Manly to the Spit Bridge. Or the other way. This is a 3 hrs costal walk. Next to Forty Baskets Park up the hill along the track towards Manly, there is a small monument commemorating Captain Phillip on his visit encountering Aborigines at this location and recording it in his log book, writing they looked ‘manly’. Beside the shore line, the park has huge trees and large grassy fields, well maintained, with built in BBQ’s and a kids playing enclosure, plus toilet facilities. Up the hill is the Forty Baskets Café. A picturesque, tranquil, great family park. Further along the walk to the Spit Bridge lies the beach and the swimming enclosure with views towards Manly and Failight.

A loely harbourside walk

Taking a stroll from Condamine Street park to 40 Baskets is a lovely walk, with amazing scenery. Sydney is truly blessed with some of the most picturesque spots in the world.

Very relaxing and tucked away from crowds
Jan 2019 • Friends
Forty Baskets is a lovely spot to have a picnic. Grassy area with beach and has BBQ, swings and toilet facilities. Only a small stretch but very family friendly and great for kids. Located along the Manly to Spit scenic walk or else you can get there if you drive to Balgowlah Heights. This place is frequented mostly by locals. There is a shark proof pool and a lovely view of boats moored in the harbour and you can see across to Fairlight and Manly Ferry terminal. Came here for a picnic lunch with a friend who lives in the area.

Great hideaway beach for families
Jan 2019 • Family
Used mainly by locals with children, this is one of Sydney's hidden gems, especially now they have fixed the pool area, plus there are BBQs there. Yes it's a bit of a stroll from the small car park, but it's mostly in the shade, or there is limited parking in the streets above the beach. The only downside is it is shaded by mid afternoon.
