Wasted journey

A wasted journey!
Travelled 25 miles to be met with a closed sign! So much for ‘no need to book, just turn up’
We had checked prior to departing that it was open but we don’t use Facebook and it had been ‘apparently’ posted on there that they were closed. Absolutely ridiculous considering it is half term and Halloween week. Won’t be returning

Magical place
Oct 2021 • Family
A home education trip for the Halloween experience was a huge success. Beautiful, magical place which had been spookily decorated to a great standard. Grown ups and little people are all looking forward to a return trip next summer.

Closed!
Oct 2021 • Couples
Really disappointed. After a 50 mile journey, turned in at the gates to find a "closed" sign. Gardener told us we should have checked the website first. WE HAD CHECKED. Website says how pleased they are to be open!
May be worthwhile phoning first?

Lovely place for all the family

Such a beautiful place. My family and I love this place. The restaurant is nice and clean too, with plenty of cakes to choose from.

Hidden gem
Sep 2021
We arrived early on a dampish morning after being recommended to it by our Hotel and for a while were the only people there which made the gardens even more special with the atmosphere. They are fascinating with differing vistas and you constantly ask yourself why someone would have dug out all the tunnels and grottos but we are glad they did.
Great views of surrounding countryside as well. very friendly people , good selection of tasty looking cakes available as well in small cafe
These are well worth a visit , even when wet, but as others have said probably not great for those with mobility issues

Beautiful Tranquil Walks
Aug 2021 • Friends
Beautiful well kept gardens, fantastic display of flowers in borders. Views over Severn bridge. Lovely cafe with ample seating benches outside. Lovely walks all around estate. People were really enjoying their day relaxing or strolling around gardens. Really recommend and theres Chepstow garden centre not far away.

Very enjoyable, but the grottos have uneven ground and are unsuitable for persons with any walking difficulty, or mobility issues. Our visit on a bright early September day was worthwhile.

Beautiful place to visit, shame about the ash and smoke from the bonfire
Aug 2021 • Family
Beautiful gardens and grottoes lotsof space for children to run around. Trip cut short by bonfire on grounds expelling ash and smoke into the air. Clothes and hair covered by the ash and smelling of smoke, children coughing and slightly distressed 😐

An ok day out
Aug 2021 • Friends
Not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. The staff knew one of us had problems with mobility and didn't warn us about the entrance having stones that needed to be stepped on. One of us slipped and ended up in the water which was a pond. They should have placed a bridge over the pond. The flowers and garden was OK but we had seen better.
