Laozi's Lectures
Aug 2016 • Friends
A nice Daoist temple complex in Luyi, Laozi's reputed home town (according to the Shinji, and subsequent Daoist tradition). The far end of the complex holds the "Venerable Sovereign Platform," where Laozi is said to have preached and where he achieved deification. I spent a peaceful and leisurely morning here, enjoying this refurbished cultural monument to the 2500 year old, legendary sage. In addition to the buildings, the site houses a museum, garden, a statue depicting Confucius's consult with Laozi, and a stele inscribed with the Dao de jing dated to 730 CE. Well worth a visit if you're traveling in Henan province.
