About
Cascina Albano was born in the heart of Langhe, on the hills of Barbaresco, from Vacca family, who has been now producing wines for more than three generations. The winery was founded by grandfather Marco and his son Natale at the beginning of the 80s. Passionate about the land where they were born, they decided to name the winery after the hill on which it sits: Alban, which means “kissed by the early sunshine”. The passion for our job and the fascinating relationship between vines and man, give us the courage to improve every day the expression of our land and our history through our wines. They are able, like a never-ending book, to tell the story about the harmony between the different parts. Modern creativity together with a focused vision of agriculture and enology, allows us to enhance the unique features of our wines and our hills. In every sip of one of our wines, you will the passion of grandfather Marco, the patience of Natale, and the creativity of Marco.

Very good and enjoyable host. She appeared very professional. We were able to book a visit and tasting on a short notice without any problems. The tour was very informational and it was fun to see the production site. The tasting was also very fun and ‘tasty’. Would certainly recommend visiting the family owned vineyard.

While they were fully booked for the day and we were unable to tour the winery, they let us taste their wines in between tours. Both were very friendly and willing to answer any of our questions even though they were busy. We will definitely be going back next time we are in the area.

The best wine experience we have ever experienced!!!! These serious young passionate winemakers not only welcome you into their winery with open arms but have a serious and exceptional understanding of wine and the land on which their grapes are from. The wines are exceptional, all of them, which is rare from a single winery but Marco and Eli really put their heart and soul into every hand picked bottle. Ask about the labels and you will soon realise how serious these two are - simply delightful and an absolute must when visiting this region.

We loved tasting the wines made here and getting a tour of the cellar. The owners have such passion for what they do, and their aim is to make delicious wine that's accessible to everyone. They taught us a lot about the different varieties they make, and they have some unique ones we haven't seen. Incredibly affordable prices, plus a warm and welcoming family. My husband and I loved it!

I have just returned from a visit to Turin to visit my son and his partner. They arranged a visit to this winery in Barbaresco. My wife and I have paid many visits to various wineries in this area. This winery was by far the very best yet. Our visit was hosted by Marco Vacca who is the son of the present owner. Marco combines the formal education of a modern wine producer with all the passion of a family long steeped in wine production. The range and depth of his knowledge was superb. He even had large glass containers showing the different soil compositions of his vineyard and he then explained the effects this has on the different vines grown in his vineyard.

After the informative talk we got down to the business in hand - namely tasting wine. Even here he was both knowledgable and helpful. We tasted all that he produces and as we tasted he explained where in the vineyard they were grown and how both the topography and the soil influenced both colour and taste of the wines. All in all it was the best winery visit we have made in almost ten years of visiting the area.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating - or in this case the buying. I have never before bought more than a couple of bottles due to transporting them back home. On this occasion I bought 12 bottles. Marco is fully geared up for shipping and my wine was home in five days properly packed in polystyrene cases.

If you want the best vineyard experience in this area then go to Casino Albano you will not regret it.

Very small family-run winery, we arranged a visit and we were very warm welcomed. They have a very nice story around the wine, to share with visitors and the tasting was a very nice experience. We really liked the time spent there, totally recommended, if you don't have expectations to see a mass production winery.

I'm a bit embarrassed it has taken me this long to review. My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of touring this incredible winery in October 2016. If you are hesitating at all... please go! We had one of the best winery experiences of our life! (Seriously)

A bit of background... I'm from New York and definitely know my way around a bottle of wine. I attend 4-6 wine classes in the city every month and know my way around wine. All this is to say, these people know what they are talking about.

The tour was incredibly informative, the winery makes very strategic (and expensive) decisions to ensure their wines reflect the terroir and region, and not the wine makers style. It's bold but balanced and unique. I will not tell you the wine price (don't want to spoil that surprise), but needless to say, would be at least double if not triple in the States.

And lastly, they are a small shop and the family who runs it is just spectacular and are using sustainable and responsible practices.

Thank you guys for such an incredible experience!

We were heartily welcomed by winemaker Marco Vacca. Even though they were very busy at the Vineyard, he took his time to make us feel at home and to tell us all about the winery and the way they make their (excellent) wines. He turned out to be a wonderful host, who told us everything about his passion for wine making. After that he took all the time in the world to let us taste some of their wines, and we immediately fell in live with them. Each of the wines stood out with character and a subtle balance in the taste. We love the Perschers, a wine that transcends all prosecco's we ever tasted. The Langhe Arneis has a freshnes without acidic overtones that makes it the perfect wine for a summer afternoon. We were equally impressed by the Freisa, which is relatively unknown compared to the Nebbiolo, but which turned out to be a warm, strong and complex wine, perfect for a good dinner. A real surprise was the Rosa to, a wine that comes in a bottle that deliberately has a blank label! You can use your own creativity with the label, just as Marco has used his to create this enticing wine. Normally we're no big fans of rosé wines, but this is something else! But our favorite was without doubt the Barbera d'Alba. We've tasted many Barbera's,but this one is clearly a winner. Marco didn't stop there, he continued to surprise us with the charming Gentiluomo, a wine perfect for desserts, but maybe even more with the tasty cheeses you can find in Piemonte. We finished off with a grappa from the Nebbiolo grape, a delicate drink that goes well with a good Italian cafè. Besides tasting good, the wines also look good, in bottles with clear and witty labels, that Marco and his girlfriend created themselves. Cascina Albano is an excellent winery, where Marco and his girlfriend use all the knowledge they've already acquired and combine it with the great wine making tradition of the Barbaresco area. For them it's not a job, it's a passion. We thoroughly enjoyed that he shared that passion with us, we're very impressed with the quality of the wines, and were enamoured by his warm hospitality. Needless to say we couldn't resist the temptation to buy a few bottles! This is one winery that we heartily recommend to anyone for a visit and a tasting session.

Dear Jos, I'm pleased to read you super good feedback about us. I'm thrilled, I think it's one of the most beautiful review I have ever received. We always work with love and determination, and of course it is wonderful you noticed it and appreciated it. Our warm hospitality represent the Italian life style we love, which means for us make you feel at home and make you feel part of a big family around the world. We really hope to host you again in Barbaresco.

This is a small family estate / producer from a long line of winemakers. Marcus, a young man who I think will make a name for himself in years to come has gone out on his own, even drawing the artwork for his labels.
Born into a wine family and university trained in the art and science of winemaking, Marcus is full of both knowledge and passion for his craft. This made the tour of the winery more interesting than most. We visited 4 wineries in Barbaresco over 2 days, and enjoyed this tour the most.
The tasting includes the full range of wines, grissini, cheese and salumi. I believe the tour fees were waived with our purchase of 6 well-priced bottles.

Cascina Albano was a top highlight of our trip to the Langhe region. Highly recommend a stop at this family-run winery located at the top of a hill just outside of Barbaresco. Marco gave a friendly and informative tour, including his family's winemaking history and all the details of every stage of the grape growing and wine making process. Marco is so passionate about his work and it clearly shows in the final product. The tasting was wonderful, with a thoughtful discussion of the multiple wines we tried (which were all outstanding). Loved it and hope to come back someday!
