The museum itself is small, loads of reading but informative and interesting. 20/30 mins total spent going through it. The cafe and staff were excellent, food was lovely and the desserts were fresh and homemade.

The man in the cafe at the desk was very obnoxious, we did not enjoy being there at all. The rest of my family members arrived later than I did and also claimed to have a bad experience with him. Not welcoming to visitors

We loved this museum, especially because we love the show Poldark and my husband is Irish. This is an important part of Ireland, Cornwall and Butte, Montana’s history. I think I finally understand how they drained the mines using a steam engine. Interesting to find out the Irish mines copper for thousands of years!

We did a drive of the Beara Peninsula with this museum on the list to stop at even though we didn't have a lot of time left in the day. Worth the admission - looks little, but it is packed full of information about the history of copper mines and the local history of copper mines and the hardships that came with the industry. Hits close to home for our family because we have a son who is majoring in mining engineering in Butte, Montana. There is an entire section dedicated to the irish miners who left this area to head to Butte, Montana to make a living. I will say that in the surrounding cities (even several hours away) some older people asked us if knew about Butte --- apparently the emigration is still very much alive in family memories and family stories. I learned a lot and came away with much more appreciation and compassion that the human factor played in the emerging days of mining and how technology has played a role. There is a lot of reading involved, so bring your glasses if you need them. You will want to spend between 30-60 minutes. Along the road you can see several defunct mining shafts if you know what you are looking for.
